Zero no Tsukaima ~ Futatsuki no Kishi: Episode 2

Rating: 8/10
Impressions:
I think this episode is the best I’ve seen so far including the first season. Talk about fast pacing, Wales comes back and dies again all in this one episode. There’s plenty of action as well as a fairly emotional ending. The animators did not hesitate to show the intimacy between Henrietta and Wales by making them make out nicely when they see each other again. Ahh, poor Saito. I was a bit surprised when Henrietta doesn’t really change her mindset even after witnessing Wales heal himself, but this all emphasises her love for Wales, which in turn increases the tragedy that befalls upon her. I feel quite sorry for Henrietta after watching this.

I think it’s pretty evident that Saito and Louise are closer now, though of course they still get into their usual quarrels, where Louise usually ends up whipping or bashing Saito somehow. I’m impressed at how much stronger the two have become now as well. Saito has always been pretty powerful, but it really shows this episode, especially with his confidence and distaste when he realises he’s not strong enough to stop Wales and Henrietta. Louise can actually do something now, showing off her void magic by cancelling out Wales’s and Henrietta’s magic (and somehow only Wales is hurt). I wonder if she has any offensive skills though…

Next episode introduces another new character, which further adds to my being impressed with the show. I’m finding this second season to be far better than the first, which I thought was good, but not nearly as good as everyone made it out to be. Things are just going so quickly (even though this episode doesn’t really lead to anything, except it probably sets the characters up for something bigger) and new characters are being thrown in from everywhere. Things seem to have gone back to normal for now, from the looks of the preview, and this time Saito’s found himself a rival—can he defeat him without Derflingher?

This was an emotional ending, poor price of Whales though. In the end he was sorry for what he caused and asked Henrietta to forget about him. Very touching though seeing some amazing quality in the show so far and I’m really excited for the next episode! =3.
I think Louise dispelled the zombie resurrection magic, so Wales went back to being dead.
Jason Isenberg: I wonder if his sudden change in heart will be explained later on…
cclragnarok: ah yes, that would make sense
cdragnarok: That is what happened, the spell was called “Dispel Magic,” so it dispelled the hurricane-type spell and the ring of andervilles revive magic
I prefer harem, and fantasy without romance and vice-versa more so then I do with such plots as depicted in the second season.
The point is, I really hate when what I had thought could be but in turn get my arse handed down to me disappointedly; like thinking Saito and Hanrietta would at least grow closer but seeing as how this episode ended, the possibility is low.
Anyhow, I just hope for Hanrietta to get over the lost of her lover, and I do believe that she will mature from here on forth.
PS: Aargh! Why throw the big make-out scene in there? That’s what I really hate about some shows which tends to put to much emphasize on supporting characters and display such vulgarity when it’s not really necessary (e.g., showing the cast off of their shadow closing in with the lips sounds fairly sensible, don’t you think? Instead of the EXPLICITNESS).
