Yoake Mae yori Ruriiro na Crescent Love: Episode 1

Impressions:
Wow, that was something. I am very impressed by the first episode. It was funny, interesting and enjoyable – a great watch for anyone who just wants to see some harem fun, and indeed, the lead sure does have a big one. How many girls were introduced just this episode? Each of them are already friendly with Tatsuya, and he is definitely not your average, wimpy harem lead. He might be a tiny bit clueless as to the girls around him, but that will change surely. The animation was good and the character design great. Right now, I don’t really care who Tatsuya ends up with (if he does get it on with one of them) as all their personalities seem good so far, although I’d say it will either be Feena (of course) or Natsuki (the childhood friend). Judging from other harems, Natsuki is likely to stay as the childhood friend while Feena probably returns to the moon without properly getting together with Tatsuya. That would leave room for a sequel. Lol I’m already hoping for a sequel from the first episode of the series, though 12 episodes is a bit short. As a sidenote, the OP and ED are far too slow for my liking.
The characters are all interesting with completely different (though fairly generic) personalities. I didn’t expect Feena’s voice to be so mature – I thought she would be a younger, rebellious princess, but it turns out she is genuine royalty. I’ll get used it soon enough. Tatsuya is an awesome protagonist. Although his nose-pinching is somewhat strange, it and his naturalness make him different from other harem leads. He is fairly safe from embarrassment as far as I can tell so far, another good thing. I’m also very glad this wasn’t an ecchi. Ecchi shows, in my opinion, are just wastes of time as the producers cannot come up with a good plot (although that Sumomomo show may prove me wrong – I hear it’s pretty good!). Last thing, the chibiness is just so cute! It reminds me of Final Approach. The use of it so suddenly and in perfect situations just makes an already funny and enjoyable series even better. If you don’t know what I’m talking about, I mean this, this and this. There were others, but they were minor ones. Anyway, looking forward to the next episode! And yes, I will be blogging this series (hmm, looks like I might be blogging more than I thought).

Story:
Princess Feena of the Lunar Kingdom visits earth to get to know the people for when she becomes Queen. She stays at the household of 3(?): Tatsuya – the male lead; his younger sister, Mai and older sister. Yeah, pretty lame description but there really isn’t much to say. Just watch the episode for yourself! =D Take a look at the entry I did on the trailer here for some more information.
Plot Outline:
- In an age where man had settled on the moon, the Lunar and Earth population waged war for some questionable reasons
- Years after the war when tensions dropped, the princess of the Lunar kingdom, Princess Feena, decides to visit Earth for a homestay to get to know the planet for when she becomes Queen
- At school, several of Tatsuya’s classmates are introduced
- Tatsuya returns home with his childhood friend, Natsuki, and start working at their restaurant
- Afterwards, Tatsuya returns home and is informed by his sister about Feena’s (and Mia’s – her maid) stay
- Tatsuya pinches Feena’s nose (quite suddenly and very randomly), which would’ve been quite an offence if it wasn’t for his reason behind this: affection
- It seems that Tatsuya and Feena have met before, as the princess can remember Tatsuya pinching her nose some time ago
- Everyone heads to the restaurant for a welcome party
- Outside, the process is being observed by a strange blonde girl, who is hovering in the air
