True Tears: Episode 5

Rating: 8.2/10
Impressions:
I actually thought that Hiromi had become ‘happy’ too quickly, but then seeing her strange reaction to Shinichiro telling her about number 4’s remark made me rethink my opinion entirely. Her reaction is a little off, and doesn’t seem like the kind of thing she would express if she was only expecting something like a confession or a date offer by Shinichiro. The repeated scene doesn’t help much either…but I wonder if the txt message she receives beforehand has anything to do with her frustration. This certainly seems to have set her relationship with Shinichiro a little back, and the dating deal that has come into play isn’t going to make things better.
Meanwhile, Aiko is definitely latching more onto Nobuse than before, so all signs point to her NOT getting with Shinichiro (unless this is just some façade to get closer to Shinichiro. Speaking of the two, the ending line that Aiko gives in this episode is somewhat confusing. Not so in the sense that, I don’t understand what she means, but rather in the sense that I have no idea what the scriptwriters were thinking in making the show finish with that, since it certainly doesn’t seem like a very effective hanger or anything. So Nobuse comes and is about to bust the two, but then he already knows about the jumper. So what’s so secretive and important?
Overall, this episode isn’t as good as some of the others, but I attribute that to the fact that this episode is more of a setup episode for the twist in things that’s to come. That is, the dating deal that Shinichiro makes with good ol’ number 4, who doesn’t seem very ‘nice’ at all though. I can only see Hiromi getting hurt if she really has any feelings for him (or even if she doesn’t), and who’s better to come to her rescue than Shinichiro? However, there’s also the matter concerning the twos’ parents and any possible relations. I wonder how Noe will react if Shinichiro approaches her with a date in mind as well. She certainly appears to be attracted to him, even romantically, right now.

I think Hiromi has feelings for Shinichirou but it’s like the whole Romeo X Juliet kinda thing, where in this case only the mother doesn’t want her to be any closer to her son. On the other hand, I’m hoping go siscon since it creates more drama and interest in True Tears. I think in the next episode Jun will probably ask Hiromi out and I think I saw her being angry at Shinichirou’s mother in the preview as well. Can’t wait til episode 6 is out.
Honestly, it’s hard to “like” Hiromi and Aiko.
Hiromi just kinda makes you wanna say “what a friggin bish” I mean come on! What the hell? She starts to piss me off D:
Aiko on the other hand seriously need to friggin choose. I mean if she like Shin just friggin pick him. Rather than use Nobuse as a safety net. It’s so damn annoying! D:
lol I’m spouting crap
Aiko 3> all !!
That was kinda werid episode. Now I couldn’t understand both Hiromi and Ai-chan. I mean, what the hell Ai-chan thinking about the whole sweater thing. I was right that Hiromi gonna get pissed judging from the preview last week. However, just because Shin said that he met Noe’s brother, then she suddently got pissed. I mean, if Shin said something about Noe’s brother stipulation, then I kinda understand. And also, I never understand what Noe’s say or think for the past 5 episodes. LOL. Man, this series is confuesed me even more now, but it’s still very entertaining to watch. The preview look really interesting too. Since the title is “what kind of joke is that?” I’m assuming that Ai-chan may confess to Shin. Then again, I don’t if they gonna portray like what I think though.
I suppose the abnormal behaviors of the characters are what this show is focusing on. They’re trying to make this story as twisted as possible. I hope they won’t try too hard. =P
Regarding DotAzam’s comment.
As a girl, i can understand and see where Aiko’s coming from and it might be annoying, but you got to see it from her perspective too.
She’s dating Nobuse but she can’t help but feel attracted to Shin. It’s not easy to forget the guy you like/once liked when your dating someone else, and there’s always the “what if’s” that go through ones mind. It’s true that she’s using Nobuse as a ’safety net’, and it’s unfair to him, and truthfully, it’s hard to say if Aiko even LIKES Nobuse (love-wise) at this point in time. The scene from ep4 with the cross-walk seems to show that she’s going to give Nobuse a chance, but even so, somewhere in the back of her mind, Shin is still there. And until Aiko expresses what she feels towards Shin, she can’t move on. She’s stuck, and has no idea where to go. She can’t continue on her relationship with Nobuse when she still feels for Shin and she dosen’t want to lose her chance with Nobuse by pursuing Shin. In her mind, both is a lose-lose situation. The former choice causes herself pain but is more ’safe’ (per say), while the latter causes Nobuse pain for Aiko’s freedom; but even thou this allows her to pursue Shin, she might not even be able to get with the guy, and even if she does get Shin, she caused Nobuse pain for her own happiness.
It’s selfish and cruel for her to use Nobuse like this, but i think this is what Aiko’s going through currently. She’s stuck and dosen’t know how to move forward. She dosen’t want to lose her chance with Nobuse, for it may turn out to be something great. But she can’t help but wonder what would happen if she and Shin got together.
It’s a “hurt Nobuse to gain her own happiness” or “hurt herself and there’s a possibility that she and Nobuse will work out” situation. And to be able to gain her own happiness at the extent of another’s pain, it’s… not something that’s an easy choice. Not if you have a heart. Not if you really care about the people around you.
But yea, that’s what i think Aiko’s going through right now. You might say it’s bullshit and you might think that she’s even more of a bitch now, but her emotions and everything she’s going through; It’s not that different from reality.
ShadowFang: woah…i thought u referred to romeo x juliet thinking that the two would kill each other in the end…
DotAzam: i actually like all of the girls. hiromi and aiko act the most ‘real’ to me, while ive never met someone like noe before, which is why i find her quite fake and weird. but i dont doubt shes a fun character to watch anyway
Scoro: stop deluding yourself. hiromi = pure win xDD
kenshin514: i guess they’re all going through some kind of emotional stress. it certainly makes things a lot more interesting though
Sputnik: IMHO, trying too hard with the characters is what clannad has occasionally done. there’s tomoyo with her insane lack of femininity, kotomi and her far-too-farfetched clueless personality, and of course, sunohara and his wackiness. these arent all bad things, but, for ME PERSONALLY, the case with kotomi and tomoyo (somewhat) annoy me
Kocopo: its something anyone would be able to see, and probably wont change the minds of anyone who’s thinking about aiko’s character, as they’re likely to be aware of the reasons she has for doing such things. personally, i dont see her ending up with shin at all, so i dont find her annoying or anything. im more worried about the other end of the story.
i cant believe the way the show is going right now, i just hate hate hate hiromi wats up with that girl and wats up with Shinichiro the fact that he laid to noe isnt appealing its like she is pushing up on him and and he is not into her man i like noe
i agree with danny aiko wont i just know she wont end up with shin she just doesnt come into the story in my opinion she like another girl in the show and i dont think that noe will end up with shin either although i hate hiromi it might be her she seem more serious out of the other girls
Aiko is a side character to me..
She’s not even related to Hiromi and Noe..
But her problems are kind of interesting…
It’s hard to guess which ending will it be..
Noe or Hiromi…
shihouin: yeah its weird since they make it seem like she’s extremely important in the OP
Setsukyie: it could always go neither. thats how a lot of harem shows end…
kocopo: Defending Aiko much ain’t cha? xD Anyway, it’s not really a matter of hating em. It’s just frustrating to watch them, I mean I almost try to bite a hanky while watching how Aiko and Hiromi.
True Tears is a nice drama. But in the end I don’t think I can really re-watch this anime as how annoying it gets when it comes to some part of the story.
I mean, I’m still following the series. Just I don’t think I can watch the past episodes anymore. ^_^;;
Really? I think this series has a pretty high re-watch value. Don’t you want to try and see things through with other girls? And I’m saying after episode 6, which is the big O-M-G moment. Very well done, and the art reference keeps getting more profound.
ep 6 was, god. I feel bad for Nobuse. Well atleast Noe still lovable. expect cat fights on ep 7. xD
lol forgot to put my name thing
^ was me
DotAzam: for me, i only rewatch shows that are funny or have really good action =]
Shin: i cant say episode 6 was really surprising tho…im sure most of us saw something like that coming anyway
