True Tears: Episode 2

Rating: 7.7/10
Impressions:
This episode introduces a few things that make the show seem more like a harem, such as the recognised so-called two-timing between Shinichiro, Noe and Hiromi. Surprisingly though, the purpose of this turns out to be the complete opposite of what I had been expecting—instead of giving room for possible harem story developments, the emphasis of Shinichiro knowing both Hiromi and Noe actually work towards a possible relationship between the two girls, either directly or indirectly. The main surprise though, is that this has nothing to do with Shinichiro. It’s hard to call this a harem at all.

Ok, so I should have guessed that this show would take things a lot more seriously than your average harem, but my previously hardened conception of harems continue to mislead me. In ways it is similar to this season’s H2O, though the story and execution are much better, while H2O retains a lot of the usual harem+fanservice combination. Ai remains a third wheel spare part on this bicycle of a story which is being built, though it seems like she’ll become of greater importance next episode (as the preview suggests). At the moment though, I’m more interested in any possible interrelations between Noe and Hiromi.

If I were to start speculating about possible pairings in the end, I would say that Noe seems like the ‘main’ girl of the three, despite Shinichiro’s seemed fondness of Hiromi. I wonder if she’s technically adopted now, which would mean the two are step-siblings, though I’m sure this wouldn’t affect anything in anime. But at the moment, it doesn’t seem like anyone is particularly interested in Shinichiro romantically, except maybe Ai. So perhaps she will be the one. It’s important to note that the conclusion of the show is unlikely to be the development of a romantic relationship, but the achievement of the set goals of giving away and retrieving tears.

Well love triangle =/ harem. You’d need three girls to qualify for that haha.
Haha, Hiromi got own big time at the end of this episode. Damn, no x-ray version like the last one. LOL
I’m not sure about other people, but I feel like Shin’s imagination world was kinda weird and doesn’t really connect to anything at the moment.
Noe’s character is too weird for me. Some people said that Noe’s character reminded them of Haruhi. I was like “that’s bullshit.” I mean, Haruhi may thought and did some weird stuff, but most of them were kinda predictable. However, everything that Noe think or do for the past two episodes, most of them I was kinda like “Huh?? What are you talking about??”
The hint about Hiromi has some feeling toward to Shin definitely make this series more interesting. I just wonder what happen in the that made her to act this way beside her father died. They also showed something in the past about Shin and Hiromi. Hopefully, they will explain more in next episode.
Hmmm……so far, I wouldn’t call this anime as harem just yet (unless, Aiko will show some sort of feeling toward Shinichiro in next episode). When two girls or two guys have feeling for the main character, I think it more like love-triangle/conflict. While the harem anime is more like 3+ girls liking one guy (you know like Ichigo 100%, I’’s, Suzuka (manga version), Love Hina, Maburaho). To me, it has different feeling between harem and love-triangle anime.
BTW, how come all of the pictures come from the first episode ???
oops…well i havent actually uploaded the new pictures but i also forgot to change the url…..my bad xD
This show really surprised me because at first I didn’t expect to really like it or be interested at all, but it ends up that it is very entertaining!
