Tokimeki Memorial ~ Only Love: Episode 8

Rating: 8.2/10

Impressions:

A rather drama filled episode, compared to the rest of the series that is. In general, the level of drama would be considered pretty lame. The recent Gift episodes a doing a great job of drama, but then again, that show is nearly over, so the fact that Tokimeki has integrated some drama over comedy (which it is severely lacking) is quite a change in itself. I’m glad about what took place, as it as neatly provided adequate time for some serious relational development. The next episode, the ‘beach’ episode, seems to focus on Riku and Tsukasa, will probably also have them run into their school friends. Hopefully this means the three girls will actually be introduced this time. Tsukasa has seen both Sayuri and Mina, though hasn’t engaged in a proper conversation yet. It looks like this anime is taking things slowly, with still two thirds of the show left. However, the show really needs to return to the comedy side soon. IF the writers can think of some GOOD jokes that is, which I doubt, as Tokimeki has never really been funny in the first place.

Now it seems that Riku has made adequate contact with all the girls now. We seem to get a cycle of Sayuri, Mina and Tsukasa with Riku, which is why I have been hoping for some more appearances of the side characters. I really want to see the canteen girl again, she’s too cute. I’ve also been hoping for some relative or childhood friend of Riku to show up to cause a huge commotion and ruin everything. That is, ruin everything for Riku, though of course that will increase the entertainment value of this show! Some more of the yakuza chicken would be great too, and an episode dedicated to him would be godly! Well anyway, this episode has increased my fondness of both Tsukasa and Mina, though decreases for Sayuri. The main girl here seems to have returned to her normal self; damn. Tsukasa tries really hard and seems to be genuinely in lust for Riku, which is one of her better points. Mina also exhibits some really straight-forward tactics to reach out to the still unaware Riku. The male lead also showed some admirable traits by his worry for Tsukasa.

Next ep seems to be a Tsukasa-centric… T_T for me…

Definitely needs more good comedy, and more confrontations. I like the idea of childhood friend, that’d probably be pretty slick of the writers.

looks like Mina runs into Riku x Kasuga at the beach. More drama?????

eiraku: I’m not really sure which girl I like now so I don’t really mind

retsgip: Yes, more drama please, and better drama too! Though hopefully it will return to the comedy side afterwards for a while

Its time for some seedy afternoon-soap opera affair plot I think.

I think Riku could do it.
