Impressions:

Inukai takes precedence this time around, though this episode has nothing to do with the main story, does not develop any harem characters except for maybe two brief moments with Riku and Tsukasa/Mina, and does not progress the plot at all. The problem here is, this episode is better than all the other episodes. Just by watching the initial scene with Inukai and those gangsters makes me wish he is the main character of the show. Instead of a comedy/harem, it can be a romance/drama and I would be perfectly fine with it. The serious mood lingers throughout the entire episode, though it softens near the end in the resolution. Inukai is a pretty cool character, though I doubt he’ll get much more time on screen now that he’s got his own episode. One memorable moment is when he makes a totally Yuuichi remark, “What, you haven’t even confessed to me yet you’ve already hugged me? I admire your courage…” Or something like that. I’m glad he is not depicted to be some all-powerful punk, since he does get punched in the face and he does run away when he realises he’s met his match. Tokimeki Memorial will probably revert to Riku closing in on his harem, though it seems like Tsukasa is pretty much out of the picture. Yayoi’s lust for him is mostly one-sided, while Riku’s current pick, Amamiya, is probably gradually developing feelings for him. I wonder whether we’ll get another cycle of character-focused episodes, or the three girls will finally meet and we’ll get something like a beach or pool episode. A harem’s not complete without one of those!
