Impressions:

Tokimeki Memorial has fallen into the harem trap, using only conventional story material that isn’t interesting or exciting. The typical sports festival is what this episode has decided to befall upon, and is only executed averagely. It is no longer funny, which was its main driving force. This brings back some old School Rumble memories, since anything now shrivels in comparison to how hilarious that show is. I guess school life shows entangled with harem is destined to not be funny, but just stupid, although Tokimeki hasn’t sunk that low yet. Amamiya showed some promise this episode as she seems to have broken out of her usual attitude. I was really hoping for some action between her and Aoba when they were locked up in the room, since I was sure Amamiya was succumbing to her growing desire for Aoba. It’s too bad the target age range for this show isn’t three years higher, then maybe something would’ve happened. Still, they manage to develop their friendship somewhat and create a new ‘memory’ (seriously, I think all that crap about memories from Aoba’s mouth is bullcrap. No normal person would start talking about that in such a situation in reality). It doesn’t really matter though, since Amamiya seems to have been entertained by his words. I just hope they make her less formal and ‘grand’. If she starts showing more of her fun side and starts really going for Aoba, then maybe views of her being the worst harem choice might change.
