Sumomomo Momomo: Episodes 5 & 6

Rating: 9/10 & 8/10
Impressions:
Both episodes are outrageous as usual, but in a very good way. The perverted comedy material is entertaining on a grander scale, and I cannot help but commend the manga creators for coming up with something so good. The good thing about comedy such as this is that it doesn’t have to abide by natural laws and can roam outside ‘normality’, which I have a serious problem with if it’s with any other genre. Sure, there’s been the fated-to-marry harem/comedy/romance anime before, but this is the first time I’ve heard of one that went into such detail as to clearly specifying the goal of bedding the male lead. Since the first episode, I have been overwhelmed with laughter and it isn’t easing up any now. Of episodes 5 and 6, the prior is funnier, though the latter is not substantially behind. As Retsgip has already pointed out, the episode features a few very memorable moments. The first is when Iroha has a taste of Koushi’s drink, and we all know what she looked like when she was sucking that straw with such…fervour. Next is the shot of Iroha when she had fallen and gotten icecream all over herself. The position she’s in definitely gives her partner a legitimate reason to start spurting blood. The final one I remember is of course, Koushi rubbing Iroha’s chest, trying to clean the icecream off.
The fact that Koushi did not react when he saw this, and didn’t even notice where he was wiping Iroha’s chest is completely outrageous, but of course I love it since Iroha’s my favourite over Sanae and Momoko by a mile. Momoko is too annoying and underdeveloped, and Sanae is the not so cute meganekko. Iroha, on the other hand, can be fierce, loli-cute and moe all at the same time! I wonder if any more ‘competitors’ will appear in later episodes, and by that I mean competitors for Koushi’s manhood and not his life. I was quite confident that other members of the 12 families would show up, since it’s only normal for it to happen after the concept of a dozen super-martial-arts families is explained clearly in the first few episodes. It’d be fun seeing a new guy introduced each episode, but I hope the anime goes back to the three girls more so, since they are much more fun to watch. I think right now, everyone’s eager to see more of Sanae in action, and a three-way-battle between her, Momoko and Iroha would be the perfect time for her to reveal her true identity. Either that or a teamed battle between the three girls and some uber-powerful grand nemesis to protect Koushi. Speaking of him, I wonder if he will gain any talent in martial arts. Although I am strongly hoping he does, my common sense tells me it’s only natural for him to stay weak and defeat all his enemies in stupid ways to get a laugh out of the audience. Though it would be pretty cool seeing him go psycho near the end.

I’m not into harem anime, but the insanity in this one works for me! Come on, the male lead is a child molester(or being molested by a child) who wants to become a prosecutor!
For me, I like Momoko>Iroha, since Momoko got a lot more chibi moments than Iroha. But then I haven’t seen the latest episodes…which I assumed that Iroha got a bigger role. Too many new anime series to watch this season!!
Yeah, I hate it when I want to follow a bunch of anime shows then I realize I don’t have enough time or internet bandwidth to do it. Sigh… The chibi scenes are pretty funny, but I’m not much of a sucker for chibi scenes.
Episode 5 and 6 ROCK! Funniest episodes i’ve seen all season, easy. This anime is now my most anticipated anime of the week.
Iroha #1 here. I loved her little excursion for “onii-san” gathering information on the system. I think Sumomomo has one of the strangest harem setups of the season, but its so halarious.
I don’t think the male lead is a child molester, he’s just being molested, and btw, the female lead is around 2 years younger than the male lead, since iroha is 15, the female lead should be 15 or older. O.o
