Spring…The Shows I Missed

Even after this post, where I thought I had stopped sampling new shows, I managed to start and resume following a few more. So instead of just letting everyone know about this with no other criteria, it would have been pretty petty and random. Also, I thought I’d make up for a few shows which I decided not to blog, yet am watching anyway. The ones I mention here are ones I would recommend.
Seirei no Moribito
Episodes seen: 4
Current rating: 9.5/10
This show certainly exhibits astounding quality, which is perfect for this type of show with a lot of action grafted into it. The plot is pretty interesting, though I think it’s the animation quality that has the most effect on my fondness of the show at the moment. It is pretty serious as well, which is always good in helping creating that sense of ‘epic-ness’ in shows. Even though I don’t really like history shows much, Seirei no Moribito has become one of my favourites this season (even though I haven’t been able to stay up to date, though I’m getting episodes 5 and 6 now…)
sola
Episodes seen: 5
Current rating: 9.2/10
I have no idea why I like this slow-paced show where almost nothing happens. Perhaps it’s the sheer tranquillity of the show, or maybe it’s just because I really like Matsuri’s (was that her name?) personality. It somewhat feels like a school or slice of life show, yet is not close to either. It’s definitely fantasy, but not to the point where the main characters are shounen heroes with vasts amounts of power, fighting to save the earth or whatever. In any case, I like it a lot, and am glad it’s only a single season series, as I fear for what it might become if it had to be stretched out.
Claymore
Episodes seen: 4
Current rating: 9.4/10
Well yes, I am following this now, and I admit the show is very good. However, what’s different for me compared to most other people is that I really hate the character design, and because of that, I probably don’t like this show as much as I would. Anyway though, Claymore’s use of gory action is excellent if you like that kind of stuff, while the story is pretty solid at the moment as well. I like the inner battle Clare has to go through, as the hero can’t be all invincible. It makes me wonder though; will Clare somehow break free of her Yoma side, or eventually succumb to it and be killed by a comrade? I’m not sure what I’d prefer at the moment though…
Kaze no Stigma
Episodes seen: 2
Current rating: 9.5/10
Wow, male lead who’s kicking ass from the very beginning! I totally dig this anime at the moment, most likely because I haven’t seen a good example of fantasy like this in a while. I like the diplomacies and status-determining power concepts as well. The only thing I don’t really find enjoyable is the female lead…crap forgot her name. However, as I have seen only two episodes, anything could go wrong, but the worst and most likely would be a bad quality drop. Out of the two episodes I have seen so far, the second saw a bit of a quality drop, so I hope it doesn’t continue in a trend.
Romeo x Juliet
Episodes seen: 2
Current rating: 8.5/10
Well, as much as I hate the real Romeo x Juliet which I am studying at the moment, the anime version is vastly different, one which has a storyline I actually find interesting and not preposterous. Quality-wise, this anime has been holding up pretty well, but I usually like to watch a third episode to be sure that I want to follow that series. Romeo x Juliet comes under this category, so I will need to see the next episode before I make my mind up. Hmm…I wonder if the anime will keep the famous ending of Romeo x Juliet, or if they decide to go ‘happy’ and make everyone live.
DORAMA
In addition to anime, I have very recently started following Japanese dorama (drama). Because of this, anything I see is basically fine with me, which was how anime was when I first started watching it. Anyway, of old shows, I’ve seen 1 Litre of Tears, and am watching Hana yori Dango. Of the new shows, I am following:
Liar Game
Episodes seen: 4
Current rating: 9.2/10
The concept is pretty ridiculous, but is perfect for a nice thriller that’s not very serious. The plot is a bit straightforward, though the schemes derived from such story turns continues to fascinate me. I really like how every puzzle is thought out well. By the way, I haven’t read Liar Game the manga, so I have no idea what’s going to happen next.
Sexy Voice and Robo
Episodes seen: 4
Current rating: 9.5/10
It’s probably wrong for me to rate this so high, but I really love ‘Robo’s ridiculous otaku personality. Niko is pretty cool as well, while the whole show is just one big laugh. Although the getups they find themselves in are pretty episodic, it’s still very enjoyable. I hope that some kind of continual plot will develop that will last more than one episode later on.
Hanayome to Papa
Episodes seen: 3
Current rating: 8.8/10
This series is ridiculously funny, though sometimes it can be embarrassing watching Aiko saying her ‘good morning’s and such in an unbelievable shrilly voice. It’s just reached what I believe to be an interesting turning point, so I am eager to watch more, though it’s ot as good as the other shows I am watching at the moment IMO.
Proposal Daisakusen
Episodes seen: 1
Current rating: unknown
Well, I saw the first episode of this in Japan, along with the first episode of Sexy Voice and Robo, but I haven’t had a chance to watch any more in the mean time. From what I saw in the first episode, this series seems to have an interesting concept, with the time travelling to edit photos. It’s impossible for me to give a rating at this point in time though. If I had to say something though, it would be ‘good’.

I think you’ll be liking Claymore a lot more from episode 5 onwards…the pacing and action are gonna be picking up a lot more.
out of these my favorite is sola!
I keep hearing good things about Seirei no Moribito, but there are no subs damn. Heh Claymore gets even more intresting past ep5, you get to see a bit of Clare’s past too. My fav out of the ones on the list I’ve seen are either Kaze no Stigma or Sola. I don’t have an eye for quality at all but in ep 5 Kazuma doges a sniper’s shoots like 5 times then tanks 5 people shooting at him with machine guns and 4 granades lobed and him then goes lol. One thing I really like about him is that he doesn’t have the annoying steroytipicla LOL FIGHT FOR GREAT JUSTICE!!! feel you get out of generic shonen leads. Like Kazuki, he was 1000% the generic shonen lead and that really annoyed me, ZOMG FIGHT FOR MY FRIENDS!! I MUST WIN FOR MEH FRIENDS !! *suddenly revies and powers up*
Could someone please tell me what the anime at the top of this page is called
u see it i told u dat claymore was stink
YES!
You’re now following Claymore!
The character design did annoy me initially but now I’m happy to overlook anything like that – all the other artwork is fantastic, maybe similar to Mushishi-esque detail?
damn mi cant believe how sick, mad clamore is wooo episode 7 proves dat jesus it good
@FlameStrike. Seirei no Moribito is being subbed and it’s up to episode 5, like Danny, I also recommend it. The quality for the show is exceptionally high and the story seems to be adapting smoothly. The other show I enjoyed but no subbing group was taken an interest upon is Hitohira, waiting for episode 2 like for ages now. One that surprised me a bit has been OverDrive, hope to see more of it soon. But that’s just me…
Wow just got to Claymore 7, Madhouse really owned with the Terasa vs Claymores 2-5 battle… I can’t wait to see how it turns out. Although the title is a bit spoilerific.
Proposal Daisukekun is really great, plays more like an American drama with more entertaining charm so give it a chance. Liar Game is still pretty good but I haven’t watched the latest ones. Don’t mean to diss anyone who likes the show at all, but I can’t get into Sexy-Voice and Robo, I just really dislike the characters. I think it is sorta overrated like Hana Yori Dango was (which was awful.)
If you want another good current drama I’d suggest Thank You, it’s Korean but it’s good and incredibly sweet/sad (how can a show about a kid with AIDS not be sad?) and Our Textbooks, a really dark and insightful drama about junior high kids with serious issues and the teachers who endure it.
The only other doramas I’ve watched are Please God Give me More Time and Crying Out Love In the Center of The World, both great and seriously depressing and heartwarming shows.
I’ve just started watching sola… it hasn’t gripped me as much as I thought it would, but there is definitely an element of mystery there! The girl in the church (who’s name I’ve forgotten) annoys me a little…
Lately I keeping up with my daily anime but finally I have found some time and I went on a crazy anime download/search for all the things i missed I have recently watched Darker than Black it decent i just hope it gets better then for kaze no stigma (as i watched the epsiode got way better but i want more action) then gigantic formula i started watching because i found this blog recently(cough yesturday cough) and i started watching lovely complex becasue it got a decent rateing from this site!! -yont OUT!!

I like Lovely Complex. I think it’s an awsome Anime. KissSub is doing an a nice job of subbing this show. Also love Claymore, another really sweet show. So many good Anime this season. lol.
