Impressions:

Ooh, it seems like something has finally happened, by the looks of the strange glowing lights on the random body of water, as well as the report of the Europe base being attacked…But in terms of this actual episode, nothing much happens, except that the Sonic Divers are appointed their official pilots (wait, are the sonic divers the machines or the girls?) Anyway though, Otoha seems to have received her signature weapon as well—a sword, obviously. I wonder if the Admiral purposely disabled Reijin’s weapons system (judging by his smirk), though I’d like to think that it’s due to a special connection between Reijin and Otoha…

This episode reminds me a lot of that episode in Evangelion where Asuka and Shinji do the synching practice with music in order to defeat the twin angels, only in Sky Girls the synchronising isn’t emphasised as much. It’s good to see Eika not going psycho with tsuntsun tantrums over her team-mates failing to keep up with her. It shows that she has really accepted them as co-workers and as friends. Oh and apparently Takumi becomes a cook, just like in the OAV. He might say that it’s only a side job, though it seems to me that we’ll be seeing him doing that more than him doing communications—great chance for Karen!
