Shakugan no Shana: OAV

LOL my god I am so sorely disappointed at this OAV. I’m not saying it’s not a good episode, but I can’t believe there’s like no Shana and Yuuji. It should have been Yuuji x Shana x Yoshida (even though I absolutely despise Yoshida and her Twin Towers). Still, overall it was quite enjoyable, though it would be much better if it is actually part of the series. That way, it would act as a character development episode for one of the more minor characters, Ogata (which sounds like oba-san to me lol). I must say though, as Shakugan no Shana is my fourth all-time favourite anime (after Neon Genesis Evangelion, Bleach and Suzumiya Haruhi in that order), just watching the OP excited me. I sort of re-fell in love with the show after hearing the first 2 seconds of the OP. And I should also mention the altered ED with stills of Ogata instead of Shana; quite nicely done I must say. Well anyway, if you’re a fan of Shakugan no Shana, you must watch this. Also, if you like fanservice, you will be disappointed because there’s not much. Wilhelmina and Margery make short appearances too. I was hoping this would be an action OAV, but then I guess it wouldn’t really work if it’s placed after episode 13 chronologically. I guess I’ll have to wait for the movies for some real Shakugan no Shana goodness.

yea.. this episode is kinda like extension to the shanatan’s, not really a story OVA.
Like you mentioned, the Ed sequence was done pretty well, made me want to try out Vegas vid editing =P cool screenshots as always, though i think it’s cooler when you include the title at the center of the 6 screenshots. =P like your other ones
ah yeah, i didnt bother with the title over the screenshots because this is only one episode.
I can’t believe I paid almost 5000 yen for this OVA… like you, I was expecting some action, but just got some comedy fanservice…. which was enjoyable, but maybe not worth 5000 yen.
The movie should be good, but because it’s just the Friagne arc, we’re not going to see anything much new.

This is different that Hectate-tan and shana-tan … those were very small episodes that poked fun out of parts of the anime and the characters, they are not to be taken serious.
This one is actually a episode but it only sheds light over Ogata (of course since we all watched the whole thing we already know how it ends up), I don’t think its that bad because what else they could do?
Yuuji x Shana x Yoshida started up but the part we see in this episode is pretty much how the relation was at that point (Yoshida only comes into full force during the Festival) so there was not much that could be done … Shakugan no Shana have a pretty fast pacing that makes inserting episodes difficult, also its really not a series that allows for “stand alone” episodes … the fact they concentrated on a side character is a example of that.
so then, who is Yuji going to end up with anyway? Shana or Yoshida?
