School Days (yes I’ll be blogging this) focuses on the love triangle between a guy (Makoto Ito) and two girls (Sekai Saionji and Kotonoha Katsura), though as of the first episode Sekai and Makoto have already hooked up. The initial story is a pretty often-seen kinda thing, with Sekai helping Makoto hook up with Kotonoha, even though Sekai herself is in love with Makoto. I’ve heard about the several ‘bad’ endings in the game, and I’ve also ‘accidentally’ read about them on Wikipedia, so I guess I wouldn’t be surprised if the anime takes any of those routes. The little scene where Makoto gets unexpectedly angry and pushes Sekai may be an indication of a bad ending.
The animation quality isn’t great, but it’s at least at the standard of an average anime nowadays. The characters’ faces often need some touching up though. The seiyuus sound pretty inexperienced to me, since the dialogue just doesn’t sound like the ones you’d hear in the other thousands of series there are. The character designs are pretty attractive, while the characters themselves (for now) are pretty likeable. I like how both girls are new acquaintances, unlike the common osananajimi (childhood friend), cousin, unrelated imouto (little sister) or well-acquainted kouhai/sempai (junior/senior) etc. With this, it seems a lot more realistic and fresh in my opinion.
Of the two girls, I like Sekai a lot better, due to her outgoingness and secret crush (though it’s not in the dark anymore). Kotonoha’s ‘weak body’ aspect (since you know, heaps of anime girls have ‘weak bodies’) is not too appealing, and her personality is the shy admirer type, which I am not too fond of. Hopefully Kotonoha won’t stay the goodie-goodie that she is at the moment and the story can develop into a real drama (or tragedy). Makoto’s the pretty average kinda harem lead guy, though this time it’s not a harem (unless a third girl comes into play). He’s not exactly annoying at the moment, but I can imagine the foolish things he might do in the future to change that.

I really like the character design in this anime, just by looking at your screenshots anyway.
I know of it’s H-game origins, and that the predecessor of the title was inherently violent, I wonder if the same level of gore will be maintained throughout the season.
I guess I’ll leave you to cap the Juicy bits Danny. If you know what I mean.
Sekai’s looking to be a bit unstable already (mentioned that in my own entry lol)…
Anyways, I think a lot of people are going to enjoy watching Makoto crash and burn.
I personally like Kotonoha way more than Sekai because I always weak with the cute, shy/polite girl’s character.
Many people, including myself, will compare this series to Kimi Ga Nozumu Eien because similarity of the plot and the 2 heroines’ characters. KGNE ended bitter sweet, but very predictable. This brought up a good question.
Which should be the ending for the school days series?
Many people already think it’s going to have bad ending, but still which of the 3 bad endings that they’re going to pick? In my opinion, to make this series memorable for people who never the game, they should have Kotonoha’s tragic ending (which is the one I don’t like). However, if the producer wants to please the game’s fans, they should pick Sekai kills Makoto ending because they are a lot of people (including me) don’t like Makoto.

Actually, i pretty glad that this anime is only 13 episodes short/long, because this kinda relationship animes can suck pretty much when they drag it out to 26 episodes.
I don’t know anything about the h-game and the endings but i don’T think it’s a good idea letting a main charater die while being in love with somebody, if he would be a loner in the end, i would prefer makoto to die.
mainly i hate animes where jealous play’s a big role.
i thought this anime was gonna be good but it actually sucks..i mean 1st ep was okay..then it got kinda boring so i skipped eps..then came the last ep thats was so FREAKY! i didn’t think this could happen with innocent school kids
I watch hundreds of romantic anime and this is the worst one,the anime is disturbing,,, it make me sick,,, why the normal and nice girl easselly having sex with the perverted guy because she’s depressed,and making the searies more serious,,, it make me sick,,, it much better they make it in HENTAI,,, they don’t deserve a DVD into the market, I won’t buy it!!and made the girls so inucent!!??this is the worst!!
Erm.. I’m kinda confused.. I searched the net and there seem to be two versions of School Days, Other produced by TNK and I dunno about the other. Anyone know where to find details about the two different shows? I only found the one produced by TNK in wikipedia. Could the author of Novastorm reply me to my email please? Thanks in advance.
