Pumpkin Scissors: Episode 11

Rating: 8.2/10

Impressions:

Wow, Pumpkin Scissors has returned to the manga storyline. And the quality has returned to normal…somewhat. I should be rather pleased. Maybe I should start writing summaries for this show again. Hmm, not this time though; still not motivated enough. Anyway, for once this episode ended on a cliffhanger. It took some time, but finally the plot is smoothing out and we’re actually getting progressive episodes now. Obviously this can’t compare with other current shows where almost every episode is a continuation of the last, such as Death Note and Code Geass, but right now I’m just glad that Pumpkin Scissors is finally back on track. I know I would say that this show is much better than how I am treating it now if I were to marathon it, since then I wouldn’t think about how crap an individual episode is. It would be a matter of how nicely the show is as a whole. If I were to average the ratings for each individual episode, the result would not be the same as if I were to score the series as a whole.

This is obviously a big conspiracy, with Orlando and the Invisible 9 and the centre of it all. Different sides are emerging now, which makes me wonder how important Alice’s kidnappers will become later on. I assume they will eventually become allies with Alice and the Pumpkin Scissors, though only to fight the true evil, the ones trying to cover the Invisible 9 project up. There are still a few loose strings, such as where the newspaper reporter fits in to everything and whether he’s important at all, as well as Alice’s fiancée, who is most likely evil. The post-war relief theme still fits in with everything nicely; in order to help the people through the after-effects of the destructive war, Alice and her section must delve deeper into Invisible 9 and Orlando’s past. Heh, the more I talk about this, the more appealing it becomes to myself. Oh and something completely unrelated to this which I had to mention; the girl who kidnaps Alice is so much better as a character than Alice. She’s also hotter. I wish she was the main character. And I’m really surprised at Orlando’s bad composure as well, letting the guy see his gun so easily. I wish he would just stay in killing mode forever.

well, seems Alice has come to some sort of understanding with her captors in next ep. (with little help from Orlando?)

I agree with the comment of the “new girl” being hotter. This arc is looking to be quite interesting but I’m hoping they add some nice tank battle scenes in somewhere or it won’t be very Pumpkin Scissory

Like the toddler which has found it’s feet, this anime is finally starting to deliver the goods. Indeed, there is no better way to kick the party off than by a good old fashioned kidnapping, don’t you think? Throw in some convoluted plot by an Evil Genius Institute within the Government, and you finally have the story to be aprised on.

I’ll look forward to the allegro of this new symphony which will no doubt move us, shock us and keep us on our toes. As I said with Rets, there will be much joy and intrigue with the coming of this new arc. Lets hope it doesn’t chug down in speed now.
