I’m pretty impressed with this show. It seems there is just as much high school as there is cycling, which at this point in time, hasn’t become very important yet. The sport aspect of the show will surely increase in significance as the show goes on, but for now, I find the main character’s love life to be far more interesting. I originally didn’t think much of this show, dismissing it as I thought it would be purely about cycling. Of course, I was terribly wrong, and now there is a high chance of me following this show (if subs come out of course). I would write more if I understood it more, but for now, Nagasarete Airantou and Romeo x Juliet are waiting for me! xD

    Whoa a sports anime about bicycle racing lol. I think they are running out of sports to produce shounen anime on. Although sports like Boxing, Soccer, Tennis and Basketball worked very well I don’t think bicycle riding will be much of an excitement however Hikaru no Go was about a board game and I gotta say its one of the best sport genre anime I’ve seen yet.

    Never count out a sports anime. They can make ANYTHING into something awesome.

    I’m actually very interested on this series. Being a fan of Golden Boy, I remember how much I enjoyed Kintaro’s Downhill race against the BIMO. I hope I get to see some high speed bicycling.

    Do I spot Kazuki and Mahiro from Busou Renkin? Damn re-used character designs.

    This looks slightly better than I had anticipated, but I’m still not sure I’ll actually watch it.

    erm, though Overdrive has a manga of it’s own.. i haven’t read it yet, so i think i’ll watch this.. it’s been some time since we get to watch Sports anime right?

    I don’t care about those small details such as the Main Characters of this Show bein’ a little similar to Busou Renkin.. it’s the SAME STUDIO after all!

    The Hero’s personality somewhat reminded of Kobakawa Sena from Eyeshield-21, though not that much.. if i’m not mistaken the OverDrive’s manga is now at Volume 9

    I just watched the fansubbed version. I might follow this if the episode 2 will maintain the a bit of romance and no over dramatization.

    I Must admit my heart went through the rood when i heard that there was a cycling anime. I consider this a potential Initial D style anime. I really hope that there is alot of technical terms and specs that get thrown around, I am waiting to hear those!

    Also this is to all of the people who think the anime could be stupid! How? Car racing and Bike racing are the exact same thing, only Biking is SO MUCH MORE FUN! Here is an example, In Initial D whenever there is a new opponent. They show off their car and the potential of the systems installed inside, such as the Engine power, specs, wheels, grip, techneic. and skill. I can think of at least 10 different ways that that guy could your his TREK 1200! YES I ALREADY KNOW WHAT BIKE IT IS!!! And all bikes are not all the same!

    From Shimano, there are numerous compolents that can be used to build a powerful bike to the riders specs! I cannot wait to see what happens in this anime, When they introduce the characters… I REALLY HOPE THEY INTRODUCE THEIR BIKES!!!!!!

    I do Know a website. Its called Torrentz! Just download the subbed versions from these fansubbers:

    Currently 9 have aired on JPN TV

    Mendoi – eps 1-2 subbed; 3-6 in production
    Toki – eps 1-3 subbed; N/A
    Animenoobs – eps 1-4; N/A

    I would recommend if you understand enough japanese to watch the shows. Just watch them In RAW from without subs. Since I am a bike anime fan and an even bigger bike fan. I just watch the RAW files and get the quality sub later. Since no fansub group is doing what SHS did with Black Lagoon (new ep aired released last weeks subbed) its hard to know when new releases will be out.

    I would have to say as both an anime enthusiast and a biking enthusiast I am in LOVE with Over Drive! The main character is a beginning cyclist like I am. Watching Over Drive really pumps me up to train my hardest!

    i’m stuck waiting for episode 21 but i must say this is an awesome anime. i didn’t have high expectation for it when i saw the sypnosis, but just at the very start of the first episode when they show the present day Shinozaki racing at the Tour de France – his seriousness and power, whoa! Bam, just like that I got attracted to the anime. I especially love their racing, it is very interesting and full of suspense, like you never knew who is going to win the next segment…though the flashbacks do tend to come at annoying moments…hahah, anyway, this is a must try i would say.

    Watch out. This show is actually really great. I had a lot of doubts at first. I’ve never heard of it and no one ever talk about it and I actually got into watching when I was terribly bored and was randomly searching through A-Z lists of anime to watch.

    After the first episode, it just blow me again. I’m now itching to cycle once again!

    Great characters, not as predictable as I thought they are going to be. lovable main character. And there are some seriously funny moments.
