Ok so my ratings suck…

In effect from the 1st of July 2007 and onwards!
There seems to have been a bit of controversy regarding my ratings in my recent Bleach 131 post. Because of that, I have decided to alter my method of ratings to a more ‘normal’ way of rating (hopefully). From now on, I will rate episodes according to the chart below, and you can now see what a show actually gets if I rated it 8.5 for example (it would get 6.5). My tendencies were to put most of the ratings between 9 and 10, which you can see actually spans from 7 to 10.
10 = 10 = Exceptional
9.9 = 9.5 = Excellent
9.8 = 9 = Great (ok I’m not sure if ‘great’ is actually higher than ‘very good’, any ideas?)
9.5 = 8 = Very Good
9 = 7 = Good
8 = 6 = Decent
7 = 5 = Average
6 = 4 = Poor
5 = 3 = Bad
4 = 2 = Very Bad
3 = 1 = Horrible
<3 = 0 = Impossible to get ^^;;

Oh come on nothing can get a 0, no fun! I think though great is higher then very good.
Heh I always figuered some of your rateings where a bit high
Ok, now it’s cool !! ^^
Sorry if I was a little bit to harsh … I was Anonymous in the Bleach 131 post
You can try..
10 = 10 = Perfect ( or maybe Flawless would be better )
9.9 = 9.5 = Exceptional
9.8 = 9 = Excellent
9.5 = 8 = Very Good
9 = 7 = Good
Wouldn’t it make sense to have it on a smaller scale(1 to 7 or 1 to 5), if you never give anything below a 7 normally? It is also difficult to conceptualize what the difference between Perfect, Exceptional, and Excellent really is.
http://survey.pearsonncs.com/planning/response-scales.htm may offer some tips.
i love to read everything you write down. doesn’t matter what kind of ratings you give em,
I’m suprised there aren’t people going, “OMG WHAT SHOWS ARE THOSE, I CAN”T FIGURE OUT THE TOP ONE” But maybe that’s just me…….. I really like the Kanon ones.
As for the ratings, suddenly everything makes sense. Just subtract 2 from any score 9 and lower and that’s what you really meant.
Personally when I tend to rate shows unless it’s really bad I can’t bring myself to give anything less then 3/5. But that of course factors into the whole only watching shows that I like, as I’m sure most people do.
i never look at the ratings anyway…and if the people complaining cant read your review and find their own rating from that, can they count?
I already posted in bleach 131, I wouldnt care if you let your ratings the way the are now! Because, in the end… they aren`t even that important because every person has their opinion… the changes you are doing now confuses me even more!! I vote for you to let them the way they are!
Peace! And OUT!
Sorry for my not-very-good english! ^^
ok guys, if you dont understand, the first number (the leftmost number) in the scale is the original rating. That is, the numbers on the right are the numbers I’ve been using to rate whatever. The numbers in the middle column though, corresponding to the numbers on the left through the ‘equals’ sign, is what it will become now. So if I rate something a ‘7′ now, had I not changed the rating system, it would be a ‘9′.
Kabitzin: i dont think the word values matter that much. Just take 5 as the average and work up or down from there.
Makes sense to me, but seems like this season nothing’s gonna be above 5 though, but who knows.
@ bluestreak i think the top one is negima
wouldn’t it be easier if you rated just on a scale of 1-10 like normally? cuz i think that’s rather redundant
ok why would 9.5 be excellent and 10 exceptional, it doesn’t make sense if 10 is supposedly the highest rating?
Seriously folks, just see what an episode you watched and liked was awarded, and if you see that number or higher awarded to others then check them out. Otherwise exercise caution ^__^ That’s how I go about it, anyway, it keeps the numbers themselves from not mattering.
Can you add my blog to your affiliates??
ALso 10 shouldn’t be exceptional it should be awesome or something
if 8 really means 6 or something don’t you think you should just write 6? like seriously why would 8 out of 10 be a 6 out of 10? wouldn’t it be easier just to write 6? it’s way less confusing that way, i don’t get why you should make a whole elaborate system if you can just write what you mean
Anonymous: I’m afraid you’re misunderstanding the whole point. The thing is, I WILL write a ‘6′ and not an ‘8′ from now on. I’m just saying that if I ever rated something an 8 in the past, it’s really a 6 from now on. If you still don’t get it, it probably means you didn’t really read this post or my previous comment, and I can’t explain it any further.
Uhm!! I think Im finally cathing up with the idea… so the 7.3 of the latest Hayate no Gotoku it would had been an 9.3 in the past… maybe now is just a little more of realistic! But i dont really care if the ratings are rigth or not, because im loving this blog and I enjoy your reviews as they are!
(My english is not top of the line(hahahah XD)… excuse me if theres a lot of mistakes u_ú)
Your ratings are perfect! XD I love this website. e___o; Oookay~ >.>; Now. xD; I don’t really get this rating thing, but, eh. :] It’s the thought that counts.
