Naruto ~ Shippuden: Episodes 1 & 2

The long awaited Naruto Shippuden is here, and I don’t like it…much. As a lot of my readers would know (hopefully @_@) I absolutely HATE everything with bad quality and bad character designs. The two are separate things, though if either one of them are severly disliked by me, I probably won’t even glance at the rest of the aspects. Yes, a big flaw but I can’t help it. Example: Initial D. I have no idea how popular it is, but I can’t take the character designs. And what about Yoakena? If Bleach looked like that show, it would rank as one of the crappest shows in my lists.

The Naruto manga looks pretty amateurish to me. But at least Sakura is cute enough, and most of the characters remain consistent in terms of how they look. But the quality of these first two episodes of Naruto, the two ‘epic comeback’ episodes of Naruto, are crap in terms of quality. And I’ve said this many times elsewhere, but Sakura looks like a man most of the time. |

The first few minutes of the show are very well animated, and unfortunately that made me expect the whole thing to be like that. Of course, wrong I was, which now results in me belittling the show, and will probably lead to some flaming. Before I go on, I would like to say that: flame all you want, but they will be ignored by me. Non-flame comments are of course welcome! |

Well anyway, this episode takes place after the 2 year time lapse, from when Naruto leaves the village to train. It starts off with very spoileric scenes of Naruto, Sai and Sakura finding Sasuke. But ignoring that, it also encompasses some filler material, and the manga original material are swapped around and altered somewhat. Nothing big though. |

These two episodes cover only…2 and a half chapters I think. Chapter 245, half of 246 and 247. Next episode, some nostalgic moments as Naruto and Sakura face up against Kakashi in the familiar bell exercise, only this time, Sasuke is absent. I’ll be looking forward to seeing Sakura and her new found strength. She’s my fave character in the manga…but anime? Seems not. |

Ah, why didn’t you say you liked the manga version of Sakura! ^^ Despite the Konohamuru mission technically being a filler, I really liked it. Some changes like this are definitely good between the manga and the anime. I really can’t wait to see Sakura kick some butt.
Simply, this start of a new Naruto was awesome, i enjoyed every minute of this episode. new non-manga ways was very nice to watch.
Unlike Bleach, Naruto is too good to be true. Bleach is going down, deffinately.
The episode was amazing, it really was a great transition between “kid” naruto and “young adult” naruto. It was really amazing, I felt all fuzzy inside.
I loved the episode to death. Particularly the opening. ^__^

Unlike you, I really loved the ep, maybe it’s because Naruto is the first manga/anime I have really loved and now NARUTO is back!
Animation was really good when you know it’s studio pierrot doing this and the fillers parts fited the show.
I just didn’t liked the start with sasuke because in the manga we had to wait for ages to see him and here..
Anyway, naruto is way better than bleach right now, because with Bleach as you said in your post on episode 110, it’s basically the same things happening while Naruto has still a loot of potential i feel like Tite Kubo don’t know what to do and so do the same thing.
This series will only have an impact on people who already loved naruto from the start. I don’t really like Naruto at all but I know how it feels. It’s kind of like Hikaru’s maturation in Hikaru No Go for the Naruto fans. It’s like the show is growing old and maturing with you.
I will admit I thought the art (except for Naruto’s design) and animation were ugly and Sakura looks kinda butchy.
tomboy sakura is wonderful. I will now become a sakura fanboy and shit on everyone who speaks evil towards her! bwahahahaha
Sakura is now officially off my “God this useless POS needs to die now” list and into “Holy shit she became awesome so suddenly” bucket. Though she still needs GAR lessons from Revy.
Overall, aside from Sakura insta-fanboyism, I found the episode to be entertaining. This is probrably helped by the fact that I haven’t read the manga or not a total Naruto expert on everything.

I would like to call upon a moment of silence for the 100+ filler episodes… May they rest in peace in the endless void of forgetfulness and NEVER come back again. Yeah right, like that’s going to happend…
Too many shots of characters turning their heads and looking like mutant cow creatures while they do so. Not sure why there was so much “head turning”, but it was so unsuccessful and ugly and for whatever reason I kept noticing it. Umm I may sound like a dirty old man or something but I thought pre-timeskip Sakura was hotter than the new one. Her arms are weirdly chunky and she seems to have even less cleavage. Also that first shot of Sasuke was really strange… Shizune looked more like Sasuke than Sasuke does in that shot. But he did seem back to normal when he was about to slice Naruto’s head off. I thought the “flashforward” sequence at the beginning of the episode was pretty successful, but the rest had me bored at times. I concur with your 7.5 rating overall.
Man, I can’t believe the fillers are finally done and over with. The number of Naruto filler episodes is probably enough to fill 3 whole seasons of a mid-length anime series.

Well its about time, these two eps started out well but then became kinda like the Naruto fillers we are used to. Although I am looking forward to Naruto being back on track the constant fillers have defiantly dealt a heavy blow to the anime. Although I hope for quality action scenes I really ain’t expecting many.

I got so pissed off as well with the Animation but because it started with Naruto (and others) seeing Sasuke again, I can live with it xD (Since my fav Yaoi Couple is probably SasuNaru) xD Although Sakura just looked so strange to me the entire Episode O_o
I admit that the naruto fillers were bad, however the come back is great! Obviously better than Bleach.

The AMAZING character development and storyline totally makes it so the animation seems nothing. Plus, the shippuden animation IMRPOVED BY ALOT. if you noticed if you truly like naruto, when the scenes get emotional it’s like ZOOOM their drawn better. It’s like playing an old final fantasy. legendary. But visuals? Poor. And the lengendary’ness makes up for it. it’s just like a book. Hell, you don’t even need to look at the screen to cry. During an emotional version of naruto I can just read the subs and be bawling. Please don’t judge a show only on animation. Byebye!
OK, everyone, this is NARUTO! It’s not freaking Elfen Lied or Neon Genesis Evangelion or Wolf’s Rain for Chrissake… It’s a FUN Anime. Yeah, they do a really good job of developing characters, but it’s not supposed to be this deep, intellectual anime or anything. Take it for what it is and just enjoy it…
Actually, I don’t really think the ending was too NaruSasu. I think that it simply showed the dynamics of their old relationship.

I honestly…do not at all get why people say Naruto’s designs are bad. it is one thing to look at something and judge, and totally another to BE an artist, and have to think these up!. *sorry for shouting there, but I find it offensive at times* I personally find Masashi one of my art idols, his world of Naruto was obviously inspired *underlines inspired since its a totally fictional world* by older Japan, but the other half came from his imagination and created his own view of ninja, and it must be hard to develop a world consisting of them, esspecially since your stereotypical ninja all wear the same clothes.
I also believe that Naruto is capable of having deep story, or at least can have one character to relate to *whether by background or attitude towards things*….perhaps just not everyone sees the same thing when they watch an anime.
