Naruto ~ Shippuden: Episode 10

Rating: 8.4/10
Impressions:
Naruto’s sense of justice and companionship is a bit too extreme in my opinion. Yes, he’s childhood means that he would probably feel this way, but the theme has been recurring too often and is getting rather old. On the other hand, he is definitely stronger now, which at least means he has some power to fulfil his desires to help others now. Speaking of getting stronger, Sakura’s healing abilities have been superb and it’ll be fun watching her in action next episode. I’m probably most interested in Sakura’s increased abilities at the moment since she hasn’t really been depicted as such a strong character before.

And people wonder why I think there’s more to the Naruto/Sasuke relationship than just simple ‘friendship.’
you will be happy to see this arc then, alot of sakura stuff, and good stuff at that.
Sigh anyone here wonder why the old naruto series has better pacing , action scenes ,music and animation than shippuden ? given the fact that many other countries has already licensed Naruto and not to mention all those games and etc
In the words of the immortal Sean Connery, I’m waiting to be impressed. I agree with Bankai — I’m disappointed by the animation quality of Shippuuden. Check out ep 14 where Itachi does his raven genjutsu. It could look absolutely amazing if done well so I was really looking forward to seeing it animated. However, the art lacks beauty, elegance and dynamism. He turns into birds. Yawn. Story-wise, the Itachi fight could be a relatively epic encounter, yet if you compare to the first series they are not even on the same planet in terms of excitement and suspense. Some of Itachi’s illusions are downright horrifying, but as animated the terror and spookiness are nowhere to be found. Certainly nothing like what they achieved with Orochimaru in the Forest of Death. I guess if there’s a direct Part 1 comparison it would be the initial part of the ‘Itachi Returns’ arc where some of the Konoha jounin fight Itachi next to a river. I thought that fight was pretty ho-hum — the main characters were not even involved — but it had the advantage of only lasting 2 episodes (81-82) plus introduced some nice mangekyou sharingan animation. And the rest of the arc was downright amazing.
One big problem is the outrageously stretched out pacing. The episode/chapter ratio is somewhere around 1:1 right now (I’m pretty sure, manga ch 245 = ep 1, ch 260 : ep 16, OMFG). That’s roughly 1 manga page per *minute* of animation (they sure waste lots of time with their Konoha wikipedia rehashes). I’ll probably rewatch this arc once it’s done so I can see it all back-to-back, but the story feels too chopped up to have any momentum. If you watch a shounen series it’s for the action and the fights. I could deal with flashbacks, endless reaction shots, and slow pacing if the fights still looked cool. As it is, I’d almost rather have fillers than this… almost.
Yeah, I also find Shippuden to be really slow. Not impressed at all, the animation, action scenes, and story of the anime is ‘blah’, it’s not exciting at all and rather disappionting after watching Shippuden 001-016. Shippuden 001-002 really got me thinking that is going good…it went down hill after…The orginal Naruto was way better; better in every aspects imho. :/ Still hoping things will pick up and get better…
hey get use to it just be glad were finally passed to whole same thing after the same thing were finally at were natuto gets hot and stuff plus the eps. will get better
Naruto shippuden really sucks..its way to slow and the animation not as good as the first Naruto!!!it drags on and on where are the good parts?i think ill stop watching it all my friends have…there’s no suspense anymore
