Mushi-Uta: Episodes 4 & 5

Rating: 7.5/10 & 8/10

Impressions:

Episode 4 left me quite surprised due to the sudden face-off between the two main characters of the show—I had thought they would discover each other’s identities, but thankfully, they didn’t. It ended rather abruptly, but I guess it wouldn’t be very fitting to have some ‘boss battle’ at this stage of the show. Even so, Daisuke’s power disappoints me a little, as he fails to show how good his rank dictates. Rina’s mushi is a lot more impressive, though I guess Daisuke’s has that feeling of uniqueness around it. Oh and speaking of the two, apparently Rina is focused more on Centi than Daisuke…ahh how disappointing. xD

The next episode’s pacing decreases somewhat, though it provides interesting information regarding Daisuke’s past (as well as Shiika’s). I ended up liking that episode more than the previous one. Seeing the bond Daisuke and Shiika shared when they were younger makes it clear why the two became so attracted to each other the moment they made eye contact. I don’t believe it to be a romantic attraction at all. Anyway, apart from a bit character development and background information, this episode also places Shiika and Rina on the same side, and their relationship will make for an even more interesting episode when everyone’s identities are revealed!

    Just finished ep. 8, Asami turned into a doll was the only big thing beside that I am still little bit disappointed that nothing much happen. The fight between Daisuke and Kasuo seems kinda sloppy.

    Oh well, at least, we can see now that Daisuke’s personality has changed from cold to more caring. Hopefully, the last 4 episode will have a strong conclusion of this series.

    Sorry kenshin, would you mind not talking about future episodes? I actually haven’t watched them yet. ^^;;

    This show definitely needs more love! There’s so little coverage, when it has such a great atmosphere. It gets more interesting from here on, even though there’s surprisingly not a huge amount of bug battling.

    I’m really sorry, Danny. I won’t do it again.

    Well Daisuke mentioned something about fire type first class or something. I think Kakkou wasn’t good vs centi?

    I strongly agree with Totali–I think Mushi-Uta is a hidden treasure which a lot of anime viewers will kick themselves for missing. No doubt it will be R1 licensed someday, if quality has anything to do with the selections that are made. I don’t know how it’s doing in Japan, but I think it’s so good that it’s popularity might just build to the point where it rivals shows like Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya as a “dark horse” sort of unexpected gem series. Whatever the case may be, I’m certainly glad that I stumbled across it!

    Have you noticed that not a single person has gotten killed so far? Zombies, yes, but nobody dead, right?
