Lucky Star: Episode 4

Rating: 9.4/10

Impressions:

Lucky Star succeeds again, and this time utilising many comical references to other shows. My favourite is Konata’s comment about how the relatively motionless shots of Nagato in Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuuutsu being budget savers, when it is KyoAni themselves who animated SHnY (as you should all know). There were many other visual and verbal references too, such as to Full Metal Panic, Shuffle, Tsuyokiss, Dragon Ball Z etc. I’m also glad that this time they focused a bit more on Konata and her life. I really love all the real-life references she makes as well. Lucky Star is interesting and funny at the same time!

I noticed one shot of Konata that was especially well animated, similar to Kanon levels. The picture is the middle-top screen shot above. Because of this, I realised how much better animated something like Kanon was animated compared to Lucky Star. However, being a comedy, Lucky Star isn’t in real need of excellent visuals, as long as the faces are not distorted and the movement is fluid and believable (some of the worst I’ve seen are running animations). Of course, KyoAni achieves this wonderfully, and I have never thought that Lucky Star should be of higher quality. I guess they need a lot of money for Clannad and such, soon to come.

This show isn’t for me it kinda hurts my eyes due to the brightness. And the characters heads are a little to big and their hair is unnaturally neon. I’m okay with unnatural colors, just not that bright.Hell, I want to dye my hair moron but not just because of anime infurences. Oh, a bit off subject…it hard to tell with anime bloggers if they are a guy or a girl. So just wondering what you are. 0_o Not that it matters. jw

Y’know I’d be mighty pleased if they did one episode with Kanon-level visuals. Just for fun. But I figure that the current visuals is well suited for the type of comedy Lucky Star has.

Oh, for that particular sudden boost in animation quality at “Konata & the Heat”, is actually (I’m pretty sure of it at least) a comical reference to AIR, yet another teaser to KA’s own work. Enjoy XD

=D I love Lucky Star. It’s another good anime by Kyoto Animation! I love how Konata always says lines from games and animes.

Well, may you take more screen shots? =D

    Yeah Yeah!!

    More screen shots!!

Lucky Star is my favorite now, but I still like Higurashi No Naku Koro Ni Kai better. This anime is so random! One part of this episode reminded me of Death Note where the victim covered his/her voice. Or was it another episode?

    =^_^=

I heard that lucky star makes a lot of references to other animes. I wonder what animes it makes references to?

i THINK the weird voice one is Tadatomo “Bacchi-gu” Ijuuin from Green Green (eng dub), still trying to figure it out though. If anyone knows do you mind sharing? I know I’ve heard it before >.<
