Greatest disappointment of the season, Lucky Star? Not really…for me. I was expecting more than just a bunch of dialogue, but I guess I should have expected it to be simplistic in that sense due to the nature of the original manga (yonkoma). Kyoani doesn’t seem to be using many resources either, as only the main characters are animated in detail. The background and surrounding characters are simplified heavily, though it still looks very nice. I hear the next episode will be better as well. I’m pretty sure I will grow to love this show as well, as I did Azumanga Daioh.
I don’t really like the OP, and I’m pretty sure the dialogue at the end isn’t the ED, though I also have my doubts of there being an ED at all. I like the characters, especially Konata. Having Hirano Aya voice her doesn’t remind me of Suzumiya Haruhi, unlike numerous cases before. I guess when you hear the same seiyuu voice enough different characters, resemblance between those characters dwindles. Aya did a great job though; Konata’s voice is distinctly different from the other roles I currently remember. It seems the other seiyuus are rather inexperienced, so Aya needs to carry them through…hopefully.

Stopped watching halfway through the first episode.
Not my cuppa tea.
Me too… could only stand about 7 minutes worth…
“Me too… could only stand about 7 minutes worth…”
Well, for people who like things like that, things actually were happening after that.
I liked the first episode, especially because I didn’t know what to expect before watching it. I found it being something up my alley, since I tend to like shows like that. Apparently this sort of thing doesn’t work for a lot of people though.
I loved it unlike so many bloggers.
The show was funny for me and I like the animation (moe and this kind of hand drawnin), maybe they expected too much from this yonkoma.
The second episode isn’t as boring as the first. Deciding whether a series is good or bad based solely on the first episode is not always the best thing to do–at least watch the first three.
So far I adore it.
Akira-sama~
Akira all the way! The Lucky Channel stuff is funny.
“I’m pretty sure the dialogue at the end isn’t the ED, though I also have my doubts of there being an ED at all.”
Actually, it is. The second episode shows the same scene as ED, with just a different song. It’s quite an interesting idea, though.
Nice to see other people actually liked it. I guess the show it’s most similar to is Azumanga Daioh, but the humour seems wildly different. Azumanga Daioh has very crazy humour and bizarre situations, while Lucky Star is much more down to earth, quieter humour.
Too bad you weren’t around for all that neto dorama at the time this first aired Danny. =P
At any rate I’m liking this show. The humor throughout reaches me just fine, and Lucky Channel is hillarious, esp. episode 2 (wawawa-) =D
Don’t like the OP? Haha I think I’ve already looped the OP for like an hour lol. Oh well diffrent people like diffrent things. I thought it was OK but not great, however the 2nd episode is considerably better.
You guys have to get passed the first episode which is the worst episode of the series. Oh man its soo good. Try it again….
