Impressions:

Hey, it looks like KyoAni’s taking up Lucky Star, the 4koma manga next year as their next production! Sadly, only 2 chapters of the manga have been scanlated and the group seems to have dropped it, though maybe another will pick it up with KyoAni’s announcement. Anyway, Ayu Ayu now has a new challenger: Makoto-chan! It’s Uguu~ vs Auu~ as everyone has already pointed out, but uguu still pwns auu and always will! The ultra-moe Ayu is still my favourite character, simply because she is sooo kawaii! Makoto reminds me of Asuka, once again like ALL of you have said too…Yes, her red hair, fiery attitude and radianting arrogance paints a spitting image of the Asuka herself (by the way, I am saying this in a good way). Even so, I like Rei better, but for some reason, even though Rei = Yuki, I like Haruhi better, who is more like Asuka, and therefore more like Makoto, yet I like Ayu more, and no I am not a pedo, she is in the same year as Yuuichi! Oops, got a bit off topic hehe…Anywayyyy, I am extremely please with this episode; it retained the quality, feel and comedy seen last episode, and plot-wise, the events that took place were much more interesting too. I loved seeing Makoto and Yuuichi make war on each other at home (I wonder how old Makoto is now…) Next episode, Ayu meets Makoto and I wonder what will happen. I’m also curious as to see whether Ayu and Makoto have some connection with their own stories. There’s also Shiori, who we don’t know much about (for those who haven’t seen the original Kanon of course…) Ah…so many not-so-sad ’sad girls in snow’.

For now, it’s pretty hard thinking of what to write as the only thing I want to say is KANON IS AWESOME KYOANI IS AWESOME KANON IS AWESOME KYOANI IS AWESOME repeatedly until I get the message out to everyone and convert all those non-Kanon lovers to dedicated Kanon followers with my extremely (in)effective subliminal mind…Ah shit, got sidetracked again. Oh well, I have twenty-one more episodes to express my thoughts so there’s no hurry. Anyhow, like I’ve probably implied earlier, Makoto is a nice, fun addition to Nayuki’s house. Before, it was pretty boring with Yuuichi as the only fun, outgoing, semi-sarcastic character. Sure, Nayuki and her mum are cool, but neither of them can utilise Yuuichi’s Kyonistic nature to the fullest. Ayu almost did it last episode, but Makoto really broke the ice and unveiled Yuuichi’s joking side for the good and enjoyment of all. And what’s more, the quality is like twenty out of ten! I’ve seen plenty of playful, funny, moe moments in shows, but when you see something like that with such outstanding animation, you just have to widen your eyes and say ‘wow’ (or ’sugee’ XD). I’d love to see an anime of every genre at the hands of KyoAni, just to experience the best of everything. Next episode seems to focus on Ayu meeting Makoto, but what about Mai and her katana at the end of the episode, or Shiori and her story? I want to see more of everyone else now, since as of now, they are still shrouded in mystery. I hope everyone’s stories are somehow connected in a way, but not completely welded together and conclude as one ending.

Plot Outline:

- Following the collapse of our poor, starving Makoto-chan, Yuuichi carries her back to the warmth and comfort of his home
- Upon seeing the sleeping girl, both Nayuki and her mother make a joke, saying that she is a big oden ingredient (ah…the humour!)
- Kyon wakes the girl up so she can return home, but she says she can’t remember anything save for her hate for Yuuichi
- So, Nayuki’s mother allows her to stay at her home and even gives her dinner
- Of course, Makoto and Yuuichi get into loads of fun together
- At night, Yuuichi hears someone outside and goes to investigate
- The culprit appears to be Makoto
- The sneaky girl creeps downstairs to the…fridge! (yes, she’s til hungry)
- As she is looking for food, Yuuichi see his chance to get even with her (for annoying him earlier)
- Yuuichi drops some wet, spongy thing down her back
- Makoto yelps out and starts darting around like an aggravated cat
- The commotion wakes Nayuki (OMG sleeping beauty awoke) and her mother

- In the end, the four all decide to have dinner…again (what a nice mum Nayuki has)
- The next day during class, Yuuichi spots Shiori outside in the snow
- He hurries down to talk to her after during lunch (promising Nayuki to come back soon to eat with her, but completely forgetting lol)
- While talking, he discovers that Shiori is a student at his school, but is meant to be sick at home
- She also says she’s waiting for someone, but their conversation ends without her revealing anything else (hmm…mysterious indeed!)
- After school, Yuuichi runs into Ayu once again (or rather, Ayu runs at him and jumps on him – kawaii!!!!!)
- Ayu tells him that she’s lost something but can’t remember what it is
- Yuuichi helps her look for it but by the end of the day, they yielded no results
- When Yuuichi returns home, Makoto comes and jumps on him (with glee – ooh, a sudden change in temperament!)
- However, she slips and crash into Yuuichi (lol, it looks like they’re angry once again)
- It seems that the reason Makoto is happy is because she just remembered her name, Makoto!
- Back at school (this is night by the way), we something strange, including Mai wielding a katana and something approaching her
- Man I love this show…
