Kanon: Episode 13

Impressions:
Ahaha~ (mediocre Sayuri impressions) So now, why is this post like a week late almost? Well I could just say holiday celebrations and the whatnot as a reasonable excuse, but the absolute truth is obviously my addiction to Pangya hehe. Oh and I won’t bother with a summary, as there are enough out there anyway. Anyway, Kanon 13, the follow up to the awesome episode that was 12 with the dance ad sword sequence; how does it fair? Well, pretty good. The animation could have been a little better by KyoAni style. Story-wise though, it is a lot more captivating this time around with the incredible development. Ayu’s meeting with Mai provided a lot of clues as to both of their stories. Right now, by Mai’s words, Ayu is still waiting, probably for Yuuichi, while Mai could not wait and decided to take action. The question now remains as how literal this is. It could that Ayu is waiting for something perfectly normal, while Mai could not wait to take up kendo and started practicing early. Of course, that’s not true (it was just an example), though the level of normality is still unknown. I personally still think Ayu is dead, or near death.

Garten points out that she might be in a coma, and this is reasonable. Her being dead though, is still my favoured option, and I am probably also influenced by the strong belief everyone is either a spirit or not human. Moving on to Mai; she is perhaps my least favourite girl in Yuuichi’s life, pureply because of her personality. I don’t hate her, like how I don’t hat Nagato Yuki, though she is my least favourite girl in Kyon’s harem. And don’t compare those two with Rei Ayanami, as Rei is better than them by far. There personalities may be alike but they are definitely not the same. Anyway, back topic, Mai’s story might seem pretty straightforward, with her being a demon slayer, but there is still the question to why, and perhaps how. Why can see the demons? Or how can she see the demons? In this episode, she explains that she cannot wait, so one must speculate what that something is. Perhaps Mai is half-dead and can not wait to pass on? Probably something not as outrageous as that, but as the clues are too sparse for someone who has no inkling as to what’s going on, I’ll leave it at that and absorb more information as her arc progresses.

Another thing, Mai explains that Yuuichi is what the demons are after, and not her herself. I expressed in the last Kanon entry that I thought it was Sayuri the one being targeted. For now, I have placed my trust in Mai’s words about Yuuichi, though it does not explain why Mai has been fighting up until now, even before Yuuichi moved into town. If Yuuichi indeed is the reason for the demon attacks, why did the demons attack before he started going to this particular school? And then there’s also the reason why Mai fights in school. Supposedly, she thought the demons were after her. Wouldn’t this mean that it would be better for her to go and fight elsewhere? Lure the demons so that the school won’t be damaged? And if the demons only show up at school at night, she should just stay home! But then again, this might be the thing that Mai was not able to wait for. Perhaps she was not able to wait out the demons and decided to take action to rid them once and for all. And the other mystery that is delved more deeply into this episode is Shiori and her relationship with Kaori. Right now, the only thing I am fairly sure of is that Yuuichi didn’t mistake the two Kaori’s, and the Kaori in his class is indeed the person Shiori is talking about.

Ahahahaha
Uhhh, your post shows screen caps for episode 12….
Adun: lol oops im changing it now xD
With al the angel iconography, I bet on Ayu being dead already, but staying in this world to fulfill promise with Yuichi.
I seem to be perfect opposite when it comes to girls, as i find Mai most appealing of the harem. De gustibus non disputandum.
All will be explained about Mai’s demons( both literal ones, and figurative ones).
Cheers.
This episode pronounces personalities from all the different characters. Yuuichi has shown his irritating side, Mai has shown her violent side, and Sayuri, of course, shows her true feelings for best friend.
Is anyone else irritated by Yuuchi’s “speech” after Mai when she said he wasn’t necessary?
Who is everyone’s favorite character? Mine is Sayuri (with her original ahaha…)
eh I think Yuuichi’s just angry that Mai doesn’t “seem” to care about what shes done, like she messed up the dance and it seems to him as if she’s just going yeah whatever but that’s not really the case. Also he’s pissed that Mai just shrugs off the fact he went out of his way to help her and says it isn’t nessesary he probely wouldn’t have gotten mad if Mai just didn’t say anything lol but Yuuichi is quick to misunderstand. Also Mai mentioned that this random childhood friend of hers is gone like everyone else, does that mean other people left here? Like her father scince she lives with her mom? or.. eh forget it I’ll just stick with admiriing the KyoAni class art and animation
