Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Kai: Episode 7

Rating: 8/10
Impressions:
Woah, the changes seen in this arc are tremendous, with everything somehow going right for a change. But Rika’s flaw here is that, although she’s got a lot of experience in dealing with the repeating worlds, she doesn’t have any experience in dealing with one such as this one, where everything is not crumbling to pieces. And now she’s decided to fight her fate head on, which will undoubtedly lead to failure. I believe she’s missing one vital thing, and that is her friends. She has decided to do things alone, and chances are, Hanyuu’s concern of everything going wrong eventually will come true before too long.

This episode places shitloads of emphasis on the confiding in each other part, and unfortunately, Rika does so in the wrong people—Takano and Tomitake. She should have realised by now that it’s her friends that she needs to confide in, as it is revealed that much of the misshapenness has been avoided due to Keiichi and the others letting their friends know about their memories of previous worlds, something which Rika is certainly not doing very well. She thinks now that Takano and Tomitake are her friends, but that’s going to come back and bite her in the ass. Does she not realise that the suited men are the ones who keep killing her?

Speaking of those suited men, I wonder if they’re the mysterious Yama Inu (mountain dogs?) that Takano speak of in this episode. Evidence suggests that Takano is the evil one, and if these Yama Inu are under her control, Rika has just screwed up big time. I think I can foresee some bloodshed coming up, and it’s kind of a giveaway that this arc will not end happily, since there’s still another to be aired. I guess this arc will be the final lesson for Rika, and if she can’t figure out the way to avoid her death after this, all is lost. It’s as if all the avoided tragedies now are just to increase the angst when everything fails…

When you said that Rika doesn’t recognize the “suited men”, and with regards to most people who have responded to that question, the answer’s this: Rika mentioned at the start of the arc that she doesn’t know who killed her. And with respect to Yakusamashi-hen, she was assaulted in a dark room, hence, she won’t recognize them.
Who knows if Takano’s “Yamainu” are the same MIGs who wreak havoc in the previous arcs? If they are, then yes, Rika’s in deep shit already.
Ah right, Rika never remembers how she dies. So if she’s obtained this power, as in, the suited men, doesn’t it kinda mean already that Takano is the culprit? I mean, Rika went to her and Tomitake requesting a ‘favour’, and it seems like she’s got it now…only it’s not really gonna help her. ^^;;
somethings bothering me about this whole repeating day thing and the first season, (forgot what # arc it was.).

No, it DID happen. When Satoko tells Keiichi that her uncle is still alive, she is delusional.
