Impressions:
This episode is highly impressive in its graphical quality, which as some of you might know, is really important in my books. I also didn’t realise how good and epic the story is until I read some other blogs (Wrex’s Anime Whirls and Cinnamon Ass, who clearly understand a lot of Japanese, as opposed to my almost zilch understanding of the language. Definitely check out those two blogs for some good summaries on the universe of Heroic Age. I probably won’t blog this show unless the subs are nice and quick. I will almost definitely follow the series though. The story is too good to pass up.

To sum things up simply, there once were beings called the Golden Race, who called upon three other races on some planet, naming them the Bronze, Silver and Heroic Races. This was because the Golden Race decided to migrate to another galaxy or something. Anyway, before they left though, another race appeared, this time, Humans, which were named the Iron Race. Ok so skip to the end of the episode, it turns out that the lone boy on the deserted planet is a remaining member of the Heroic Race, and is uber powerful. Well, once again watch the ep and if have no clue as to what’s going on, go read the blogs I mentioned above.

The animation was beautiful. The characters introduced so far are interesting though I’m more interested in Deianeira (I think that’s her name).
It’s from the same creators of the Gundam series, right? They stay in the mecha genre, which is good. I’ll keep up with it just because I like giant robots XD. I just wish they stop making different versons of Cagalli and Lacus.
@Tokki - No, it’s not from the same creators as Gundam. You may have gotten confused because the character designer is Hisashi Hirai, who did character designs for Gundam SEED and SEED Destiny. His designs don’t vary much…
The director, writers and production studio (Xebec) have never done any Gundam.
I actually found the story very interesting. Was the lonely boy from the Heroic race or the Iron race…? I’ll have to watch the episode again, seems like i missed something.
This first ep. was gorgeous and given XEBECs history of making a lot of shows for kids (like Battle B’daman) really out of place. I was really impressed, how ever i hope the animation doesnt take a nose dive after the first 4 episodes. I sense a huge potential for recycled animation, which would suck in some aspects.
Heh the symbiotic relationship the boy and the squid creature have is halarious. Still where does he get water? A diet of all alien tentacle isn’t health XD and his mom… that’s just lol. I wish the “mom” had more AI that’d make things intresting imo. But I think the ship got destroyed though
just to clarify things:
the creators are frm Soukyuu no Fafner, not Gundam
Hisashi DOES make changes in designs, some people are just well…blind. You can see how the eyes are more dashy and the noses have changed. So stop stereotyping every hisashi character, set from characters from such a bad scenario
Well I think its gonna be good, unliek what happened to Olynssis, as some of you mgiht now, but this time, we’re talking about Tou Ubukata, he’s a great novelist. (He also wrote Fafner, so yeah)
That was very good animation for a first episode and I really hope the standard is maintained for the other episodes.
oh yeah… what happened to the boy’s squid? @________@;;
I think the boy was actually from the iron tribe. They stated that the ship found on the planet was the one that sent the signal 120 years back, so I’m guessing the boy is part of the Iron Tribe.
heyy. this anime looks interesting!!.(=
yep, it’s really cool. esp like the song angela sang. interestingly, they sang the op for another of xebec’x works–fafner. the story is sf, which is refreshing, considering all those mahou stuff we were given of late. the script is tense and past paced too, leaving you wishing for more. what i could’t help was to figure out how the hell they put on the clothes…
where’s the beginning n where’s the end?
