Hayate the Combat Butler: Episode 10

Rating: 9.9/10

Impressions:

Wow, I can’t believe this but this, as an anime original episode, is my favourite episode of Hayate no Gotoku to date. Not only is the nature of this episode completely screwed up (in a good way), the quality is far greater than any of the previous episodes. After seeing Maria singing for a while in completely crap animation, I thought this episode would be a lost cause. However, I was shocked to see how fluid and well drawn everything that followed was. Although of course, there is no real storyline, and nothing makes much sense, nor does it amount to anything important, I found this episode extremely worthwhile, and hope for more anime-originals next time.

This was so random lol. my fav part was around the end where it showed like the character profile stuff after the game ended and hinagiku was like … lv 99, with uber HP and MP lol XD 9999~
also … really funny when they made fun of maria’s age that way lol, poor maria (even though she really does looks 20+ ;x) and was interesting to see so many references to anime etc haha. specially nagi’s hair was like asuna from negima and omg the singing from maria and i think hayate later in the ep? was really funny and good =]

I liked this episode; but it lacked Hayate and that was the only drawback to me. I’m hung up on Hayate/Nagi but it was still a pretty cool episode.

The age thing with Maria was pretty funny as the previous comment pointed out; and the girl being dragged around in a coffin reminded me so much of a game I played when I was little. Wish I could remember the title; but when one of your comrades died, you had to carry them around and could revive them at certain points; just like the show pointed out. Super funny.

When I was sober and first watched this episode, I wished strongly for them to return to the manga storyline.

When I was drunk and watched it again, it was good stuff. I think in this case I needed a bit less ’story-minded’ mindset and more gearing for wild Puni Puni Poemi mindless humor.

I love how the girl in the coffin never got revived. She carries a sword at the end, but… how does a coffin use a sword?

Seeing that Hayate has almost no speaking part at all in this episode even up to the Butler Network part, could it be that the reason that this episode was here in the first place was because his voice actress was not available?

The only times we can hear Hayate speak is the opening “light up your room” message and the next episode preview. Of course, the opening part has been there since the beginning and the preview could be added much later.
