H2O ~ Footprints in the Sand: Episode 3

Rating: 5/10
Impressions:
I am definitely never watching H2O after watching True Tears ever again. Because H2O fails…..fails, and continues to fail. I know I would be able to put up with it more easily if I watch it first, but after seeing how good True Tears is, anything that’s just a little worse seems like uberfail to me. I also watched Clannad after H2O, but I’ll get into that when I post episode 14. I guess the same issues apply in this episode—not so good animation, not so good execution, a progressively more harem-like setting and a diminishing seriousness in the show’s overall tone. Which is practically everything the show had going for it in the beginning.
Hirose’s blindness became a dud point ages ago; and that was one of the show’s charm points. But even so, he’s still quite a coward who can’t even say anything when Kohinata is called a cockroach. Not only that, but I really hate Hinata—regardless of whether she really likes Hirose or not, everything she’s doing is quite evil in my opinion. I’m not sure what to make of the back story that’s explained (everyone burning Kohinata’s house down, and possibly her parents as well), mainly because it seems to me like Kohinata never did anything wrong…but I’m sure that’s not the case.
Aside from everything though, I’m ashamed to say that I JUST FREAKING realised that Hamaji is a freaking trap (trap like Watarase Jun xD). But now that I know, his behaviour makes much more sense now. But the fact that there’s a trap in the show makes this show seem more like some poorly handled side-project of a visual novel conversion, rather than a worth-the-watch, decent anime series. Oh and some last complaints: the show tries to build suspense by adding in all these little love-hate things (such as Hinata stealing a kiss from Hirose), but frankly, it all just increases the level of ‘harem-ness’ of the show, which is definitely NOT a good thing…*sigh*.

Haha, I felt the way as you do. The storyline is really getting suck. The harem is too obvious and too predictable. And what the hell with the art-work?? Oh well, I will continue watch this series until the end. I need to finish bad anime for once a while. Who knows? This series may turn out to be good one (I doubt about that though).
yup big fail /agree
I agree with you for the most part.
This is probably the most disappointing series of the season
kenshin514: hmmm yeah i doubt it will become good as well xD
Scoro: and it started pretty well as well……>_<
lostty: disappointing probably, but at least its not the worst
Yeah this show isn’t going that great so far. I’m not liking Hinata very much right now, either. Hayami is awesome though, trying to get Hirose back from Hinata :3.
Anyway, nice review.
there are two types of harems:
the well-executed ones
and the not-so-well-executed ones
this series falls into the latter category
but still - this genre fails as a whole - yep, even Clannad and Kanon and lots of others…
