H2O ~ Footprints in the Sand: Episode 2

Rating: 6.5/10

Impressions:

Sorry if I seem a bit blunt but, WOW that was shit. Well, the first half of the episode is, due to some very low animation quality and the display of some extremely annoying harem antiques. The second half of the episode does a lot better, with a lot of attention placed back on Kohinata and the entire feud happening between her and the rest of the town…though considering how one-sided it is, it’s not really a feud at all…Anyway though, I think I’m going to stick with the show, since it seems like a fun show to bash if it starts turning shit, or an interesting show to contemplate about if it does well. =)

Before I go any further, I have to say, WTF happened with Hirose’s vision? Ok, I admit I knew he was going to get his sight back, but I expected it to occur either later in the series, or happen more slowly. But somehow, it just happens, and for some goddamn reason, everyone seems fine with it!! I guess it’s relatively safe to say that Otoha is no normal person, but this has taken the seriousness of his disability and thrown it off the stage completely. The only thing the show has going now is the issue with Kohinata, but it’s made to seem so childish and stupid that I have no idea what to think anymore.

The one thing I do actually like is Kohinata’s character. She’s fantastically interesting, and the way she warms up to Hirose makes me feel all giddy inside. Hirose, on the other hand, isn’t doing enough to stand up for her in my opinion. But the blame should go on Yui and her retarded goons, who I had hoped would get a slap/punch in the face from Hirose. They’re even labelled as A and B, and drawn like idiots—there’s no way anyone would take them seriously. Even Hinata pisses me off when she mentions ’saving’ Hirose from the ‘oni’. I have no idea what kind of past these people had, but it doesn’t change my fondess for Kohinata, and knowing won’t either.

As bad as it was, I still found myself interested. The characters seem to have some meaningful history, though a lot of the girls seem like cardboard stand-ins. Maybe in the coming eps they will show a little more of each one, kind of like they did with Hinata this episode. *shrugs*

Yeah, I definitely thought the same way that they kinda ruin the good concept of having the main protogonist to be blind because all of sudden Hirose just earn the vision to see (It’s too early IMO. That’s just lame). The artwork was kinda horrible too. Well, I’ll stick watching this series because I just feel like watching love-romance/drama anime as much as I can during winter season. If in case this series turns out to be suck then I still have Clannad, Kimikiss, and True Tears to watch =)

BTW, Danny, the sub episode 2 for True Tears just came out in BakaWolf download website.

I think some of the characters are still mysterious in some ways, but the worst thing was his sudden sight and the fact nobody found this strange? Also somebody needs to slap that Yui girl or worse.

The blindness factor was one of the main reasons why I wanted to watch this show before it aired… now it’s gone, and I think everyone agrees that this show is becoming crap, I’m not quite sure if I should join the bandwagon of watching how this show will be at its worst xD

wow – you grade anime way too high – there’s no way this episode would have passed on normal standards.

    If I graded it – I would have given it a 3/10

I really hated this episode, not only was the animation really poor, but i found the story to be a drag as well. The next episode gets better though (but not by much)
