Gundam 00: Episode 23

Rating: 9/10

Impressions:

I definitely wasn’t expecting Lockon to die, but it’s for good effect that he did. I’m not being a heartless person, but his death gives the show that much more substance, something which I fully endorse. This show really does just continue on with the same battle-after-battle pattern, but at least they throw in different variables each time to diversify things and make the show more interesting as a whole. There’s still no real mindbender twist in the plot or anything of the nature, but perhaps they can pull something out of their sleeves before the season is over. One thing’s for sure though; Gundam 00 has been more than just a pleasant ride.

Much as I loved Lockon, I’ll admit, his death really did give a feeling of ‘Wow, okay, it’s serious now.’

    Man, this episode rocks.

The part where Setsuna can’t hold it in any longer, and just scream his lungs out. I mean Setsuna is a kid who usually try to get a hold of his emotions, but in the end, it piled up so much that he can’t hold it anymore.

    Good job Setsuna’s seiyuu!

Oh yea and the part where Haro keep repeating “lockon! lockon!” and the ending theme comes in, wow that was powerful.

no minderbender twist? do you realize what opportunities this opens? did you forget that we still don’t know what saji’s role is in the series? maybe’s he’s gonna be the new pilot for that unclaimed solar furnace that lockon went out of his way to send back to the ptolemaois. if i were writing this story, i’d have some twist of fate make graham join CB, and saji would be the engineer that integrated dynames’ original solar furnace into a flag, YAR!

SOULCHILDFUNK: i wouldnt call that a mind mending twist if you can predict it so easily. im sure stuff like that is already being expected by the vast audience of this show

Can anyone explain to me why Lockon didn’t use the Trans-AM when Al Ali attacked him? I mean if he really wanted that guy dead why not just overwhelm him with the Trans-AM? I hate to say it but that was the most piss poor way for a main character to die, especially considering Al Ali is probably still alive.

Here’s a possible explanation: Lockon’s injuries probably involved more than just his right eye. His body in it’s semi-injured state (sinced he refused to undergo the 3 week treatment [or something like that]) would not be able to handle the extra Gs that the trans-am would subject him to so…no trans-am for Lockon. If that was the case Lockon fought remarkably well being driven by revenge for his family.
