ef ~ a tale of memories: Episode 1

Rating: 7.4/10
Japanese Title: ef -a tale of memories.
Genres: Romance, School Life, Supernatural(?)
Episodes: 12
Producers: SHAFT
Source Material: Visual novel
Official Site: http://www.ef-memo.com/
Impressions:
So this is the show that I placed a lot of hope in, without practically no backing (unlike Shana II, Clannad and Gundam 00) for my compulsion. So did it satisfy? Sort of…It’s quality (evidently SHAFT’s style), music and storytelling are all very impressive, though I’ve yet to identify a character that I particularly like. I loved sola for Matsuri, so I had been hoping there would be another awesome character like her in ef, but the closest would only be Miyako. Let’s see how she develops…I have to admit though, there seems to be lot of importance in the relationships between the characters, so lacking a particularly likeable character isn’t that bad.

I agree, SHAFT anime is kinda weird but unique on its own way. Don’t worry, I guarantee that you will like ep. 2&3 more. BTW, I have been followed your blog for a while now, so I definitely remember your rating change. It just that if I can rate anime each episode, I tend to give a higher score than you (like 7-10 unless it’s totally piece of shit like filler episodes from Narato and Bleach). Well, thanks for reply me back (I know that you kinda busy) and I glad that you back from China.
you know though, i think i kinda like this anime due to its uniqueness. I mean, where else do you see an anime that is like this? The fact that it’s a refresher from the norm is by itself a factor that would make me watch this show. Furthermore, the storyline’s pretty interesting too: the first episode presented the audience with a lot of things to keep in mind later on.
i actually think clannad’s a lot like this, but without the comedy at the beginning. like kanon became pretty serious in the end too
kenshin514: shaft may be weird, but i reckon it’s weird in a good way
spixie: maybe too much. I have a bad memory xD
acegunner: ef still has its unique animation style (well, unique to SHAFT anyway), which I find quite refreshing.
Um, does anyone want to recomend an anime, I’m sort of stuck, I’ve just finished Clannad and Kiniro no Corda, I’m waiting on Bleach and I’m watching Fushigi Yugi, any others would be good. Arigato!
