D.Gray-man: Episode 48

Rating: 8/10

Impressions:

Wow, I ended up really enjoying this episode, despite my disappointments in Linali’s ascent to level 2 occurring in an anime-original episode, instead of in a manga-created situation that actually requires a powered up exorcist (this is the ‘Linali’s turn to shine’ part I mentioned a few D.gray-man posts ago). I’m glad a new exorcist has been found, and this new character, being so young, should become an excellent addition to the existing cast. That is, if she becomes a main character. There definitely needs to be more female characters around as well. And when I say that, I mean ‘normal’ characters, so Miranda doesn’t really count… >_>

I wonder if Mei Ling will be present for the end of the season. Her berserk innocence seems to be incredibly powerful, so I’m eager to see how she fairs in battle. Of course, with Linali’s upgraded weapon, her performance in battle should be sightly as well. I guess with the end of this season, the anime would have reached a stage equivalent to the end of volume 8. Sure, if there’s going to be a second season, there’s still plenty of manga to convert, though can no longer see a situation where the anime returns to the manga. And if it does in the future, I will have to wonder why it never did for this arc. I guess the anime in itself is interesting enough, despite the manga’s superiority.

It looks like from episode 51, it starts the Tagaochi Arc where they meet Anita and Mahoja at the Asian Branch of the Black Order. So the anime is getting back to the manga indeed, but fillers are needed otherwise the anime will just go by too fast and then it’ll feel rushed. I’m hoping more Kanda, Marie, and General Tiedoll fillers are on the way, as well as episodes of General Cloud, General Sokaro, and the Noahs like Skin and Jasdebi(Jasdero and Debitto) who are totally neglected in the manga until the final battle at Edo. D.Gray-Man is still one of the best anime ever and on my top 5 favorite anime, with Bleach being #1 and D.Gray-Man being #2. I know for a fact that Lulubell isnt going to be defeated in episode 50, so we haven’t seen the last of her. It’s exciting now because of her, there’s more Noahs, and that means more Noah fights. Hopefully that tragic and may I say uneccessary incident does not happen to Lenalee, although I hope it does happen, but not with the same result (A.K.A Lenalee with hardly any hair left and she looks like a man and she has no Innocence, so basically she becomes useless after that.)

duuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuude, I just watched Episode 50 of D.Gray-Man. That is far by the best episode of D.Gray-Man yet!!! Lulubell shows a little more of her power and fights too! Episode 51 is indeed where they meet Anita of the Asian Branch of the Black-Order, and I think there’s more of Kanda, Marie, and General Tiedoll too. Damm, D.Gray-Man is getting good.
