D.Gray-man: Episode 2

Impressions:
It looks like they skipped quite a bit of the manga, but that’s all unimportant; just part of Allen’s introduction – some more fighting etc. I’ve been trying to decide whether to read the manga to the current chapter and spoil myself completely, or just watch the anime then the manga to keep me in good suspense. Problem is, the more I watch makes me want to read the manga more…a bit of a dilemma. Anyway, that aside, the second episode of D.Gray-man followed the manga pretty nicely and it’s good that the other characters have been introduced now, especially Linali and her brother, the uber cool Chinese siblings! Funny how it seems no matter what nationality someone is they all know fluent Japanese. XD
The quality remained pretty high, but the same jokes are already getting old. The -_-” expression has been used quite a lot by Allen, as well as several other variations, which started off funny, but now…But now, there are a whole bunch of new characters to leech off for comedy material now, as I’m sure the series is not all serious (the ridiculousness of the Millennium Earl just proves it). Apart from the funny bits, I’d also like to see some serious fighting between Allen and whatever soon. So far, he really hasn’t done anything big, but it’s the second episode so what can you expect? Some co-operative fighting would be nice too, and that’d be a good chance for Allen to show off his awesomeness. Damn…I made myself want to read more of the manga…
There are a few things that intrigue me: Master Cross’s refusal to return to base. Why does he hate it that much? Is it something simple like he doesn’t like being around so many people, or a more mysterious reason that could turn out to be an important occurrence later in the series. The Millennium Earl is also still shrouded in mystery. I want to know what exactly he is and how he gained the powers he has. Also, exactly how he came into being is also a puzzle. Was he born a human and somehow transformed? Another thing, ‘Mana’ is first mentioned in this episode. Mana is Allen’s foster father and their history together has some significance to Allen’s current state of abilities…Just to let you know.

Plot Outline:
- Allen manages to reach the base of the Dark Religious Organisation and requests entry
- The members of the Organisation use some sort of living gate to check whether he is a human or not
- He is deemed an akuma due to the pentagon in his forehead and an exorcist, Kanda, is sent to get rid of him
- The two engage in a quick exorcist vs exorcist battle before Allen’s weapon is damaged and he is cornered
- Before Kanda can slice Allen’s head off, he claims that he was sent by Master Cross and the organisation should’ve received an introductory letter
- Kanda halts his attack as Komui searches his desk for the letter
- He manages to find it and Allen is accepted as a human – the akuma sign on his forehead is actually a sign of his curse
- Linali shows Allen around the headquarters and their conversation drifts to the Master Cross
- Master Cross is an exorcist who left the base and never returned. Allen explains that he had been his master before running away and sending him here
- Linali takes Allen to see Komui, who heals his anti-Akuma weapon using quite a painful technique
- Afterwards, Komui takes Allen to Hevlaska, who is able to sense the synch ration of an exorcist
- Allen has a synch ratio of 83% – the higher the ratio the easier it is to activate one’s anti-Akuma weapon
- Komui explains how it has been predicted that the Earl will destroy the world and that exorcists were born to combat him – Allen accepts his mission as an exorcist
- In his room, Allen addresses someone called ‘Mana’ in his mind, saying that he has finally made it. Mana is Allen’s foster father

..the anime skipped out on the fightscene with all those akumas! it’d have been nice to see Cross Grave in action, though. like how it’d have been cool to see how allen got cursed originally. in fact, that short section was pretty important to the story imo. but they’ll probably show it sooner or later.
komui and linali own. especially linali.. at least episode 2 was had a lot more humor than the first one.
“at least episode 2 was had a lot more humor than the first one”
That’s what I love about Komui…
hopefully this show wont go into fillers…they skipped some of the manga so maybe theyll run out of material later on
