D.Gray-man: Episode 16

Rating: 8.7/10
Impressions:
It seems like everyone is bashing this show now because of the fillers, and it’s getting really frustrating. Someone please tell me what is wrong with this episode, apart from the fact that it is not from the manga? I really do NOT see anything wrong. Even the quality is good; high for D.Gray-man standards. And more Linali love! The numerous Linali-tribute shots were quite a surprise, as once again Kanda is absent for most of the episode. The directing of this episode is a nice change as well, with Kanda starting his fight right at the beginning, then moving forward to other characters which explain his situation.

This episode utilises a bit of the manga as well, and that is when Linali forgives Allen for taking the burden of his powers alone, not willing to get anyone else involved. Linali really made me smile again, and I’m glad the drawings are good. I was hoping Linali would grab and cling to Allen’s arms after they left the mansion. It would have been a nice bonding-in-the-night moment. Linali’s contribution to the fighting is a nice touch as well, as I mentioned before that Kanda should have gotten the most screen time, though that’s me speaking impartially. Anyone who loves Linali would be delighted that she gets more screen time this episode, and not Kanda.

I think living for 1000 years is a bit irrational, even if it is with the power of Innocence. Lala singing for all those years was believable enough, as she was a doll, though this time, a human living for a millennium? That’s too farfetched for my liking, though I don’t really care that much anyway. He will probably end up being killed by removing his Innocence. Either that or he will be relieved of his immortality, surrender the innocence to the Exorcists and go on to live with Claudia. Actually, the latter sounds slightly more like what D.Gray-man is. I should also mention the lack of censoring this episode, with Kanda getting slashed. That’s something I’d like to see more of!

D.Gray-man has been announced to be 52 episodes in length. Hopefully before then the manga will finish (it’s still going isn’t it?), otherwise the anime will have to end differently, and that would really suck. Anyway, for those of you dying because you think filler suck, D.Gray-man is returning to the manga storyline on episode 19. The next episode will conclude this mini-arc, and the 18th episode will be something about Linali, though I have no idea what. The next manga arc will probably consist of 4 or 5 episodes, and after that the major plot will begin, and we’ll be seeing some really good stuff.

I think most are just naturally prejudice against fillers. =/
episode 19 back to manga arc! yay! im not saying i hate filers, but fillers dont advance the plot so im looking forward to when it starts moving!
Dude, I bet Kanda’s ribs are the only thing that stopped that sword from slicing him right in half xD That must’ve really hurt.
leon: i know im naturally prejudiced against bleach fillers coz they suck, and shows like that and naruto are probably what expand the prejudice to all series. sigh~
acegunner: yes of course, the main plot will be far better than these small standalone arcs
whispered.hope: hmm…kanda’s getting left out again…he’ll probably be out for the next episode as well…
Is Kanda your favourite character, Danny-san?
not even close, i think its obvious linali is my favourite ^_^
I enjoyed this episode and saw no real problems with it. Had enough action and drama, so no complaints from me in any way.
