D.Gray-man: Episode 15

Rating: 8.5/10

Impressions:

Heh, this is actually a pretty good episode, and no, I don’t mean “good for a filler?, I mean “good?. Understand? Lol. It’s rather predictable and being a filler, nothing exceptional happens. No one dies and there isn’t much character development. And also, the reason Kanda didn’t get much screen time as I thought he would is because there seems to be another filler arc, and it’s Kanda who will be the star! This is what the manga definitely lacked; Kanda. Oh and for those of you disappointed with Skin Boric not participating in any fighting, rest assured, being a mini-boss that he is, his fight with **** will come soon (note that the number of asterisks does not necessarily represent the number of letters in a particular person’s name). Other Noahs and other Exorcists will get their spotlights as well, which is no surprise. I’m pretty impressed that the producers didn’t forget about Linali and actually included a little snippet of her qhich is quite relevant to the beginning of the next manga arc…(what I mean is, Linali doesn’t seem to happy about Allen, does she?)

The reason why I don’t like short fillers as much is because of the one-off characters that are usually severely underdeveloped and basically pop up out of nowhere and become important characters in the fillers, and suddenly disappear again afterwards. This is especially true with Elda and her father, though mainly her father since Elda is cute xD. Although the idea of bringing back the dead that had been stuck in the father’s head is purposely emphasized to further D.Gray-man’s overall message of how one should never bring back the dead, I find it annoying how his beliefs completely go against what the main characters have been fighting against for the past 14 episodes. I am glad he finally got it through his head in the end. I can understand his feelings of wanting to bring back someone close to him, especially how his son would seem to have been ‘stolen from him’ (as opposed to dying naturally). You might think how believing in such a thing is ridiculous, but the show is set in the late 1800s, and I believe these things were quite believable in those days.
