Death Note: Episode 8

Impressions:
I think a lot of people would be impressed with both L and Light after watching this episode. It shows just how cunning and capable they are, and even though they don’t know each other, they are going at it like the kids they are. Light explaining how the 1500 agents report is a bluff is like telling L ‘I just owned your ass n00b!’ Light does that all the time, and the thing is, he never feels threatened by doing things like that. He loves mocking L, while the masterful detective is more reserved but equally competitive. Ryuk’s performance this episode is also quite humorous, as well as several other moments such as the ice cream part near the start of the episode (which wasn’t in the manga). Speaking of that, I’m surprised at the pace of this episode, since it covers three chapters, though it skipped some bits, such as the police taking calls from the public. Nothing important was left out though. I also said last time that the pace of the anime would have to increase soon if it wants to include all the manga in 37 episodes. It looks like the producers can speed things up when they need to. However, they did a pretty bad job on the animation, as it is worse than last episode’s. Still, there are some pretty detailed and well-drawn close ups. Oh and just as a side note, the informant, for whoever doesn’t know, is Naomi’s mother.
This is just too excitement. I really must see the next episode since it’s when THIS happens. It’s almost as exciting as Misa’s first appearance! Hopefully the next episode won’t end on that cliff hanger and include more than just one chapter. It’s more likely they’ll show Light going insane as the cliff hanger of episode 9. Anyway, the most wondered-about question of this episode is probably this: How did the TV get inside the potato chip bag? Well, I think he simply opened the chip packet without tearing any part of it, placed the TV inside and resealed it with glue. Yes, it works as long as you don’t look closely. As for anyone else eating it, Light takes into account that the flavour of the chips he used is only liked by him, while the rest of his family would only eat other flavours. It’s still pretty risky if you ask me though. Another issue being addressed is how uninterested Light is in women. Light really does stuff up when he’s reading the porn magazines; he forgets to use his acting skills and just looks at each page like a 8-year-old kid forced to read a 1200 page novel that he doesn’t want to read. L seems to have noticed this, since almost nothing slips his senses. That also brings me to another point. It seems that whatever you do, if L suspects you, you can’t prove your innocence no matter what. If you’re the least bit suspicious, it’s not good. And if you’re 100% clean, that’s not good either since now you’re TOO innocent.

I enjoyed this episode just as much as all the others etc. This anime never ceases to amaze me with its unique approach and ability to create interesting and suspenseful situations. Things are starting to get INTERESTING, YES!

Definitely, the pace of this show is increasing and its ever-high popularity must still be rising since the show is still just getting started! The quality just needs to be raised slightly since I noticed a few badly drawn closeups.

Yeah, I was very interesting that Light has a 180 degress personality shift when he lost the Death Note. I guess his father was right that it is not Kira that is evil but the power (meaning the DN) that is evil.

I loved this episode!! Raito’s a little perv staring at porno like that. It was cute, though. He looked like he wasn’t interested. And to me, his laugh is a lot creepier than Ryuk’s. Ryuk just sounds like he’s croaking. I gice this episode a 9/10.

This anime is greeeaat! If you like it you might want to check out the death note manga. Art is superb! Story is basically same, so far.
