Death Note: Episode 22

Rating: 9.5/10
Impressions:
As I expected, the anime version of this arc would be better than the manga, as it is far more action packed, which is usually better presented in actual motion picture. This episode only covers two chapters, though its pace is seemingly a lot quicker due to the climactic nature of this part of the story. Next episode though will be the true climax, and the episode after that will probably bring a close to this arc. That will also mark a few extremely crucial events in the show, and I will be interested to know what those who haven’t read the manga will make of it. I certainly was very shocked…and satisfied (unlike when I read the ending…)

It’s amazing to see Light’s and L’s predications of Higuchi’s movements turn out so accurately. It goes to show that they make a very good team, though unfortunately this isn’t going to last. This is an especially enjoyable episode this arc due to the intelligent scheming which I love so much. However, this is one of the reasons why I like the manga better than the anime. |

In comparison, Higuchi is obviously pretty stupid. He is of a pretty popular stereotype: the ambitious schemer who tries to get to the top of whatever enterprise he is in, until he is discovered and every action becomes one of pure desperateness. And I just realised how similar this stereotype is to |

It was amusing to see L consume all those sweets in the beginning of the episode. Are these random scenes emphasized to bring out his personality better, or just there to make a gag out of it? Although, it would be pretty cool if every character had some recurring attribute or theme throughout the show like L. The only problem is that this might be the reason why the quality is below average… |

Animation quality wise, Death Note is still a disappointment. There are just too many poorly drawn faces to appreciate the art, while I dislike the greenish or dull orange colouring used in almost every scene. In fact, all the colours used are just too metallic and unnatural. You can counter that a lot of other anime use bright and contrasting colours, which is also unnatural, though they generally look better. |

hey! first time i posted on your blog, but i really appreciate it
gives me a good idea on what shows to pick up and something to read after i watch the eps.
anyway, you said “this might be the reason why the quality is below average” and that you were unsatisfied with the ending, does this mean you didn’t enjoy the last part?
i sure hope not since it’s one of my new favorite shows.
well, if you mean the ending then yes, i didnt like it. I hated the ending unfortunately (and the ending means ONLY the last episode or so). But this also depends on which characters you like…
I thought that whole sweets thing was so pointless xD I get that L is totally sweet-addicted. They should tone it down before it gets old.
which episode is near going to come in?
the dull colors of the anime is what makes the anime seem realistic (it also matches with the setting and tone)
