Death Note: Episode 15

Rating: 9.3/10

Impressions:

Another two-chapter episode, covering the agreement that Rem would kill L, and at the same time, the capture of Misa, who then surrenders ownership of her Death Note. And finally, Light says goodbye to Ryuk…WHAT DOES THIS MEAN? Well nothing much, except A BIG twist in the story, so yeah. Anyway, quality = bad again. Well, it’s always pretty bad now, so I’ll just say it’s average from now on. Story wise, like I said it covers two chapters, 32 and 33. Also, chapter 34 is the last chapter of volume 4! Wow, we’re already a third of the way through the series! I’m still dreading the ending…DO NOT WANT to see it…

I would have used the manga-comparison format for this post like I did Bleach, but I’m afraid I’m a bit busy, so hopefully I can implement it next episode. Also, the sub I got didn’t include the ED again. Sigh~ oh well. I hear it shows Light in jail. OMG Light got caught? Or did plan the whole thing? This is one of the main turning points in the manga, but there is still the ULTIMATE turning point in the series, which I think should’ve been the end of Death Note, but they went ahead and made more… Oh and Rozen’ in AB IRC just blurted out the two biggest spoilers in the story, and that was annoying but I already knew, so meh. Heck, why did I even mention that?

For some reason, I don’t like Light as much in the anime than the manga, and I don’t hate L in the anime more either. In fact, all my impressions of the characters are like…non existent in the anime. It’s like I don’t care, and actually, I really DO don’t care about it. Is that even a proper sentence? The anime for some reason feels less intelligent too. I’m not sure but I think the anime leaves out a lot of the monologues L and Light have as they are plotting their devilish schemes muahaha. I personally think L is a bit inferior in the anime, since he does like…nothing and almost never has the upper-hand. Except now.

I think watching the movie took the shock out of this ep T_T. This makes me think that the anime series isn’t gonna last much longer and will probably have the movie ending. I think I would be happier to have the anime leave us with something open ended so there is some hope that Kira will succeed hehe. I’d hate seeing Kira on the losing end as he is my fav character.

mthchan: misa misa isnt really useful…i wish she were a _smart_ third party to make things more interesting, but the show has too strongly fixed itself onto the notion of to super-minds pitted against each other, and not three (although that may change soon :-D)

kev: not really sure about sad, (u mean misa) but shocking indeed

tokidoki: well, i doubt that since the series is 37 episodes long

TokiDoki: why do you think the anime will end like the movie? Is the anime version different from the manga? I saw “Death Note, the Last Name” also and I know what Light’s about to do, but I also know the movie version’s ending is quite different from the manga.
