Darker than BLACK: Episode 14

Rating: 9.5/10

Impressions:

Nine point five, the equivalent of a 9.9 before I started rating things lower, and is basically the highest score I would give to an anime episode normally. This episode is truly beautiful visually, musically and story-wise. Well for me anyway. I have a strong desire to see Yin get closer to Hei, and her doing so in this episodSe adds to my overall love of this episode. The quality is certainly of Darker than BLACK’s usual high standard, while the fountain of blue apparitions in the end tops everything off superbly. Yin’s piano piece serves as a magnificent accompaniment to the story being told, or perhaps it’s the story that’s the complement to the piano solo.

Hei’s not-so-easy defeat of the two contractors in pursuit of Yin once again suggests that Hei isn’t special in terms of power. He’d be special for his ability to feel emotions, though I don’t really like the idea of him succeeding time and time again when his powers are really only average. I guess he IS fast though. The toning down of a main character’s abilities though, would be more realistic in this sci-fi world, but that’s not something I would really worry about. And another thing, Yin’s tears just HAS to foreshadow something…something good, like her regaining her emotions. xD I guess I’m probably thinking too much again…

Amber appears at the end of the episode, and since then, all I could think about was whether she would appear in the next episode or not. I think I had heard she does, but it wasn’t until seeing the preview that I really leapt. I dunno why, but I am dying to see her. I’m guessing her likeness to C.C. must be a contributing factor, though the main one would be that she probably has the highest chance of being a pair with Hei. I love couples—that would explain it. Amber seems to be pretty outgoing as well, but that’s just based on her looks (and the smile she wears in the preview). I hope this is true (C.C.’s personality was somewhat of a letdown…)

Not only is Amber a lot like C.C., the next episode shares another similarity with Pizza Hut – there are a lot of Code Geass ads in there.

Now the tricky part: Did I accidentally mix up the two or am I implying that they’re synonymous?

For me it was only a good episode not great. maybe because I didn’t like the fat lady and her partner :)
If I think about the episode without them, It was really emotional. every contractor seem to have lost someone\something very important to them before getting their powers. maybe the hell’s gate is/was using their despair at that moment to somehow form some sort of a contract. becuase they are named contractors, I think they wanted power to do something before making the contract. otherwise, it doesn’t seem logical to call them contractors :)

arcanes- its called contractor cause they have to do the contract to use there powers, or the re-numeration, its the same thing, such as the fat ladies contract was to chew something and spit it out then use vibrations.

Do you happen to know what song she’s playing in this and last episode? So beautiful – it sounds very much like Debussy.

I second ever’s request. Seriously — if anyone gets a hold of the title of the piano piece, please say something…

Hey, I want to ask if anyone has figured out Hei’s “Thanking” Yin and Yin something about saving his life?

When Hei was asked by Mao, “Why did you save Yin that time?” Hei thought back about the time when he was at the gate with Nick and then Yin made her spirit apparition appear in the corner and that episode ended with Hei saying, “Thank you”.

I don’t understand how Yin saved Hei’s life so Hei wanted to save Yin.
