Impressions:

Finally, Hei becomes the focus character again and we get a tiny bit of character development from him (only a small amount since most of the time he’s just acting). His sister’s appearance probably means we’re going to learn some more about her, unless it’s just an apparition created by some culprit. I’m thinking the one who kills Corinna is Nick, since the silhouette looks like him. He’s even in the preview, aiming a gun at Hei. Perhaps his power (or whoever the culprit is) is to copy another contractor’s power or something, since the killer displays similar electric-manipulating abilities to Hei.

Well with this episode we learn a lot more about Pandora and the Gate. So apparently wishes can be realised when near the Gate, impossible made possible etc. I still don’t know what Hell’s Gate really is, or maybe I just don’t pay enough attention. Hei’s vision of his sister may well have been the work of one of the researchers. He acts pretty well all the time so it’s difficult to discern whether he’s genuinely surprised to see such a thing in the surveillance camera. I’m guessing he IS serious, though it would be a nice and impressive twist if it turns out Hei isn’t just your average Contractor (who also happens to have emotions).

I’d like to see at least once where someone who Hei meets on a mission—someone who seems to be really innocent (like a clumsy yet cute female associate or something), actually turns out to be a contractor. Such a character actually needs to be capable when not acting, so the girl in one of the earlier arcs certainly doesn’t count. Also, such a contractor needs to be on Hei’s side since it would be such a pity for a cool character like that to go up against Hei and most likely end up dying. Well anyway, there are a lot of things apart from this I’d like to see in Darker than Black, but at the moment, it’s the next episode. It looks interesting as hell from the preview!
