Impressions:

I wasn’t expecting to like this show much, but in the end I think the first episode is decent enough to keep me watching. I don’t really like the way the series is going; somewhat too typical with the three factions going for the same goal type scenario. I can’t say I like the character designs either. Overall though, the quality is pretty high, and it feels like it will ooze awesomeness in times to come. This anime would be nice to blog as well, since it clearly has a lot of mysteries and puzzles to discuss. The OP and ED don’t appeal much to me either. As long as the quality stays high though, it should be fine.

A major aspect of this show I will look out for is the array or characters. I love animes with a large number of well developed and distinctive characters. In fact, they don’t really need to be that developed at all. The number of characters allow for complex relationships and subplots within an anime, which is probably why I like shows like Mai Hime, Code Geass and School Rumble a lot. The main character in Darker Than Black has been rather surprising with what seems to be an alter ego. I’m also curious to see the kinds of powers everyone has, and the ‘punishments’ each must take.
