Code Geass - Lelouch of the Rebellion: Episodes 24 & 25 (END)

Rating: 10/10

Overall Series Rating: 9.5/10

Impressions:

With these last two episodes, I can no longer say that I’ll be looking forward to the second season of Shana more than the second season of Code Geass, both of which are scheduled for next season (I hope this is right). These last two episodes are insanely captivating—I sat watching with full concentration the entire way, due to the lightning pace, action, plot twists and everything else. The appearances of some annoying characters such as Nina and Suzaku didn’t end up on my nerves; instead, I felt grateful for their appearances due to the excellent entertainment that they provide. Of course, CC’s appearances (and kiss) is a wonder in its own, since she’s my fave character.

I have to admit, there are quite a few events that occur too easily for the sake of the story. Darlton’s interference with Cornelia’s and Lelouch’s battle seem a bit too lucky to me, while things like Oogi’s near death experience and Suzaku’s capture happen far too easily. They do show a few things though—Lelouch’s Geass is failing since orders aren’t being retained (demonstrated by people like Darlton), and no matter how highly someone is ranked, or how powerful they are, nothing stops them from getting crushed in the end. Of course this doesn’t happen with Suzaku, and perhaps not Oogi, but it is a good representation of it.

It’s all good knowing that there’s a second season out there, since these last two episodes introduce a shitload of new questions and obstacles, and almost no existing ones are answered. Nothing really progressed plot-wise, except that we discover Marianne actually knew of the attackers that would kill her. This adds to the mystery of C.C. seemingly communicating with her in previous episodes. C.C.’s background is revealed to us (though not all), and it turns out she’s actually a which (no wonder she’s retained her 16-year-old appearance for hundreds of years). I just hope she doesn’t actually die from drowning…

Lelouch seems to have become crazy now. He’s kinda like Light in Death Note, though in Code Geass everyone’s a little crazy too. Suzaku’s still insanely furious with Eupphemia’s death, while everyone else is either injured, dead or desperately fighting for their lives (and perhaps cursing Zero for abandoning them as well). It’s all very hectic, with the bomb Nina has (which she seemingly creates with Lloyd in previous episodes), Oogi’s wound and the disarray of the Black Knights, Cornelia’s death (she might not be dead actually), and most importantly, the shout between Lelouch and Suzaku. And the suspense is killing me.

Finally, Karen knows about Zero’s identity. And she’s taking it in the exact opposite way I’d imagined. I don’t really mind though, since out of her and C.C. (or out of anyone and C.C.), I like C.C. more. She and Lelouch make an excellent pair, and in more ways that just partners in crime. I really hope none of the main characters die either—they make for such an interesting cast and storyline. Suzaku may not die due to his ‘live’ command from Lelouch, though as we’ve seen Lelouch’s powers are no longer stable and reliable. Lelouch should live since he’s the main character, and he hasn’t resolved anything about his mother or Nanally yet.

I’ve said before that I don’t know how things will continue with Lelouch, since he definitely cannot live a normal life anymore with his uncontrollable Geass eye. However, I’m sure the writers can come up with some excuse to have it revert to normal, or some other method of keeping him in the show. I can’t see him being replaced by another character; that would be plain retarded. Karen and Suzaku are another story. I wonder how much of the second season will actually be spent on the ground conflict between Britannia and the Black Knights, as Karen and Suzaku would get involved, as opposed to a more personal confrontation between Lelouch and his father…

Anyway, the last thing I should say is probably the least significant: the OP and ED. The new OP song is pretty likeable, though I didn’t really find the animation sequence that good. I still find the first OP to be the best. The ED keeps the second song, though with a different animation sequence—one that gives the sense of closure, which I think was done very well. I definitely cannot wait for the second season, but even after that, the story may not end (they could drag it on longer, and Lelouch still has quite a few siblings left doesn’t he?) Hopefully the second season will be as engaging as the first, seeing no drop in quality or quantity.

Very good indeed, the cliffhanger along with aload of other unanswered question sure is a killer, especially this is supposingly to be the end of the season. So I guess you can’t jump ahead to watch season 2 without watching season 1 (but who would want to do that =P). Definately can’t wait.

I really like this series and i upset that we have to wait to see what happens, but still these two episodes were good. They only problem I have with this series is i dont see how things can possibly end well for lelouch

I don’t like Suzaku’s personality from the beginning. He is pain in the ass when it comes to facing the reality. However, in my opinion, his character is little bit better than Lecouch in these two episode, and that is the only part that I don’t like. Other than that, this series is too damn awesome! Can’t wait for the next season.

OMFG what a cliffhanger, amazing two last episodes. The only complaint I have is that the conclusion of it all lies in season two. With all the elements coming together (or falling apart) the first episodes of season two will have some major wrap ups. I think that should be done within a season. it’s bad enough that we’ve had to wait X months for the last two episodes. the fuzz is definitely going to die down at least a little bit by the time season 2 airs.

Can I kill Suzaku now? Onegai? I’m so pissed off at him. How dare he even mention Nunally and himself in the same sentence after Euphie.

Aaah, I can’t rant enough in this small box xD But Lelouch is kinda like Light now, ne? And I still don’t approve of Lelouch x C.C.

Wow, these episodes are really awesome. After the last part with the cliff hanger and the guns. It really blows you away. Lelouch x C.C is win, but during these last two eps I seem to be questioning who to root for now. X.x I’ve always hated Suzuka but Lelouch seems to be the one who messed up big time. Still, Suzuka’s rant at the very end was EXTREAMLY stupid. WTF he said JUST EXACTLY the Brittanian racist way. He even had the nerve to say something about Nunnaly. No wonder Leluch wanted to blow his guts out.

a pissed off azn: Yes there will be a second season, it should start sometime between October and December (most likely October).

animefan: I watched the Your-mom sub.

And in regards to Suzaku and Lelouch, I don’t hate Suzaku as much now since I find hating him doesn’t really benefit me much, so I’ve decided to simply enjoy the show without too much subjectivity. I still like Lelouch though, and I love the idea of a pairing between him and C.C. Sorry Whispered.Hope xD

Haha, daijoubu, Danny-san xD I just always get this feeling that C.C.’s like…manipulating him somehow. He’s messed up enough without her kissing him @_@

lol if waiting for what seemed like an eternity for episodes 24 & 25 resulted in episodes like that i would definately not mind waiting till october. and i actually dont mind Suzaku rather if he wasnt there i think there would be a lot less drama i mean if you really wanna hate a charatcer in Code Geass you should hate Nina. i was actually hoping they would like accidentally shoot Ganymede so it would explode but that would result in Tokyo missing (if i read the subs correctly) and as for couples..lol sorry ladies and gentlemen but its Lelouch x C.C (i really wanna know her real name) for me. i mean hey you cant say no to Lelouch x C.C after watching that kiss scene (imo) and one more thing i would like to say (type?) is that I

Yes indeed, so many unanswered questions that just seems to pop up over and over again just to entice us watchers of this series. Darn them and their wonderful ways of cliffhangery~! Darn them grrrrrrrrrr….!

I really like the character of Suzaku now that he’s way loco crazy! I loved, as always their details with the character’s chemistry with one another, and especially their details with facial expressions, especially the part where Suzaku blows Zero’s mask off. That was just beautiful.

The whole thing with C.C. knowing Marianne and everything continues to bother me, but what really makes me wanna use a time machine to start watching the second season is what happens with Shirley. Hello~!!! Everyone seems to forget that she’s kind of important too. Hahahaha. She keeps mentioning that Zero will never hurt them, and hints that he can’t because she knows who Zero really is. Can’t wait to see what will happen between her and Lelouch in the second season.

ORANGE~!!!!! I am forever his fan. I loved Lelouch’s reaction when Orange followed him all the way to the island. Hahahaha. I’m sure fans all over the world awaited Orange’s return to the series. Hahahaha. I sure as hell did.

Poor Nunnally though, everything seemed to have happened for her, yet because of her everything seemed to have crumbled. The saddes thing is though, she has no idea. Poor poor girl.

Oh, and “Nightmare of Nunnally” is an actual manga series. :-) The story is way different though.

yeah . after the 2nd episode , i thought he was like light but except lelouch is a little different in how he does things , why he does things , etc .
though because of the controlling thing and the excellent mind , we think he’s like light .

infact when he first killed someone himself (clovis), he spewed ! and he didnt want to kill euphie .
light wants to kill bad people .
lelouch just wants to take down his father.

i dont want lelouch to end up like light . you know .
light died in the end . LELOUCH IS TOO AWESOME TO DIE AND SO IS SUZAKU .
i wasnt sure if that was a spoiler but its already in the post of the last episode anyway .

when euphie died , gosh , i was sad and angry too .
like euphie and lelouch were close !
and when suzaku was talking about it , i was hoping lelouch wouldnt try to act so tough saying that its in the past . or at least i was hoping lelouch would give off some kind of feeling that he didnt want to do that .

i like lelouch and CC together aswell . infact when they kissed , i was happy ^^ . and lelouch looked happy ^^ . LOL

It kills me to say it but from the ending when C.C. (she rocks!) is talking and the tears in her eyes i think shes going to die, and with the shots i think that because of the geass command suzaki might have dodged to the side and missed been missed by lelouch. Also the shot could be from karen as she was shaking and still holding the gun she had pointing at suzaki, but saying all that i can’t wait for the second series i hope it finally answers some questions! and stops making new ones ^^

Actually, I think C.C. is going to live because the fact is she can’t die. She probably won’t appear in the first couple of episodes in the second season though. As for Suzaku and Lelouch, of course Suzaku has that live command and because of the sakurite (not sure if the spelling is correct, but its the bomb that is connected to Lelouch’s heart and it will explode if he dies) he can’t shoot Lelouch. And yeah, go Lelouch and C.C.
