Code Geass - Lelouch of the Rebellion: Episode 16

Rating: 9.3/10
Impressions:
Another useless episode about Mao and his stupid obsessive nature, and his desire to beat Lelouch at a game causes his expected downfall once again. What this episode does achieve is to bring some light to Suzaku’s father, and also to increase the irony with him working with Lelouch, as they are on opposite sides of a war. It’s also rather strange to see Cornelia acting so playful with Euphemmia, and slightly disturbing when she honours Lelouch and Nanaly, partially devoting the defeat of Zero to them, when in fact Lelouch is THE Zero whom she is currently fighting! And also, read this below (I am Iasuru btw).
A conversation in AB IRC mainly about why Lelouch didn’t press his own scale when playing chess. And ALSO to add to my argument, I would say Mao is too stupid to set up failsafes in case Lelouch outsmarted him.
<Iasuru> about why lelouch didnt press his own scale
<mthchan> orz…
<jinyamato> mao can read his mind
<Iasuru> he is like half a meter away
<jinyamato> and what if mao was lying

<jinyamato> no matter what mao has the upper hand in that scenario
<Iasuru> its obviously better than playing a game where youre guaranteed to lose
<jinyamato> lulu would lose
<mthchan> and even if lulu acted on impulse and not thinking about it, mao could have had a separate failsafe remote
<jinyamato> yaqr
<Iasuru> any normal person wouldve tried pressing it
<jinyamato> i tell you
<jinyamato> mao would have pressed it first
<jinyamato> mao’s geass is totally on lulu
<Iasuru> both mao and lelouch are retards >.>
<Guncannon> lol
<mthchan> lulu might have been too shocked or something ionno, but i understand what you are saying danny

<jinyamato> any small thoughts would result in him pressing it
<mthchan> i would have pressed ot
<jinyamato> impulse still hve thoughts
<jinyamato> that’s the thing about mao’s geass
<mthchan> it works with and without that action imo, the geass usage was cool, so i won’t care about it anymore
<Iasuru> i wouldve punched mao and tried to restrain him… i mean the other side of a chessboard is close enough to get to him in time before he reacts
<jinyamato> irregardless, lulu play to lose in that scenario
<jinyamato> you couldn’t
<jinyamato> he wuld have shot you first
<Iasuru> thats what im saying, the time it takes to take out a gun
<Iasuru> is longer
<jinyamato> punching requires thought

<mthchan> Guncannon your RSS is fine, its probably that the rss “file” that antenna is currently using for your blog is probably at fault
<jinyamato> and thought is ur downfall against mao
<jinyamato> he could have pressed it
<Iasuru> he couldve
<Iasuru> or he mightve failed
<mthchan> just tell Maestro when you see him to change the RSS address to http://gc.animeblogger.net/feed/
<jinyamato> couldn’t
<jinyamato> mao would succeed
<Iasuru> jinya u dont know that
<Iasuru> nothing is absolute
<jinyamato> let’s see
<jinyamato> even if lulu formulate a pla

<Iasuru> u dont need a plan to hit someone
<jinyamato> it still require thought yes no
<jinyamato> impulse require thought
<Iasuru> its a win or lose situation, and better than a definite lose situation if he played the game
<jinyamato> and thought is mao ability
<Guncannon> Alright, mthchan.
>jinyamato> it’s not a win lose situation
<Iasuru> jinyamoto, u cant win this argument since theres no one to say whos right
<Iasuru> so drop it
<jinyamato> yar
<jinyamato> true

i have to say that i did not understood a single thing from those AB IRC comments
Lelouch and Nanaly are presumed dead, only a few know who they are.
Cornelia with Euphemmia is not a surprise, we already know that since the Hotel Hostage episode.
Mao overstay his welcome and even if this episode moves the plot along its another episode were the story is running in several directions.
kurotsuki: try again
Drakon: er yeah….i kinda already knew they were presumed dead ^^’ im not that slow lol
cornelia with euphie might not be a surprise to you, but is to me, so dont go around stating it like a fact, and yes i do remember the hotel incident. It doesnt change the fact that cornelia acts like a bitch most of the time, so the change is quite sudden
Mjaur: nope
actually mjaur…the file you downloaded is a probably a soft sub by gg, and you’ll need to look up some codecs to get it to work. Or it could be that your video acceleration is set too low or something
Well if you do remember the episode then recall the picture and Lulu comment on how Cornelia always dotted Euphemmia and she did not changed, that is why I said it should not come much as a surprise.
Cornelia “weak spot” is Euphemmia just like Lulu weak spot is Nanaly.
Yeah, that is one IRC conversation I did not understand xD I can understand why Lelouch never really thought about pressing down his own scale, though…but maybe that’s just because I wouldn’t have thought of it, either. I’d get too lost in the moment to think about stuff like that.
It was nice to know that someone in that messed up family actually seemed to care about Lelouch and Nanaly. I can’t wait ’till the time comes when they figure out. I always wondered what the problem was, though. Would they get killed if their identities were known?
Well … perhaps not but its not a question of being killed but going back to be under the orders of their father, someone Lulu utter despises.
Drakon: ok maybe surprised is the wrong word. imagine if your best friend is always really nice to you, but then one day you hear from his brother that he is actually very violent when pissed off, yet you havent actualy seen him pissed off before. so what would you think when you finally do see the guy angry and acting violently? of course you already know he’ll act like that (assuming u trust the brother), yet u will still feel at least shocked if not surprised
Whispered.hope: well we were talking about why lelouch didnt press down on his own scale when playing chess. it had been assumed that if mao’s scale is weighed down with the chess pieces, the arrow would move to his side and nanaly would be blown up. and its also assumed that if lelouch were to fill his scale with chess pieces, the arrow would come to his side, thus disarming the bomb. so if lelouch had just pressed down on his scale, the bomb wouldve been disarmed…or so mao says. the convo is just a little discussion about this.
Drakon: But Lelouch left the authority of his father after his mother died, and his father didn’t mind in the least. Would his father then send for him if he found out he was alive despite this? Or was he searching for Lelouch after he left? Although I’m still not sure of the circumstances of how they were assumed dead– that might change things. Was that mentioned already? ^^v
Danny-san: Oh, yeah, I got the gist of it ^^v
The Emperor ordered then to go to Japan after their mother death… Lulu certainly wanted to leave him on the spot after he confronted him but he was just a kid.
That is shown in a flashback at the start in episode 7.
What I can guess is that their “deaths” were used as propaganda by Brittannia on how they “lost” in the invasion of Japan, likely that was the reason they were send there in the first place.
Ah, so the Emperor sent them? Domo, domo ^^
The plot thickens when Mao revealed that Suzaku murdered his father in cold blood - hopefully this will turn him into one of those psychopathic bad guys in the future!
whispered.hope: ah ok, glad you understand
drakon: haha lol i cant remember any of that
mjaur: yeah, you need that
exertim: i dont think just revealling suzaku’s past justifies the existence of mao…perhaps if he gave a lot more insight into CC’s past…
anyone else have troubles with subtitles I can’t get them to work for episode 15 or 16
I didn’t like this series at first but it seems that its starting to pick up and turn out to be a great series. I hope there will be more cool mechas like that MK II with the nuclear arm lol
