Code Geass - Lelouch of the Rebellion: Episode 10

Rating: 9.8/10

Impressions:

Code Geass is just awesome entertainment. You get random fanservice, lots of mecha action, scenes where people’s heads practically explode, excellent scheming and of course, being a huge Evangelion fan, the ass-kicking new Guren Nishiki. I’ve also been converted to a Karen fan now, having previously been a C.C. fan, though I only like Karen when she has her hair spiked up. Anyway, yes the random fanservice is obviously the pool scene at the start of the episode. Was that even necessary? I guess it worked well as a change of scenery. It also provided some well needed interaction between C.C. and Lelouch, since they have to get close on the outside if they are ever gonna turn against each other and initiate a war. Speaking of that, it seems like Suzaku might be getting the Geass next episode, which will be an interesting turn of events. Since Lelouch and Suzaku are like polar opposites, it will be cool to see how they utilise their powers differently. Well, at least someone should be getting Geass, since the title of episode 14 is: Geass versus Geass.

Right now, Suzaku’s main opponent should be Karen in her new Knightmare Frame. Personally I think Eva Unit 02 is far superior, since it’s so much slimmer and looks agiler. And of course, Evas are actually biological, which is why they are so much cooler than pure machine mechs. However, that special move by Karen’s Guren Nishiki is awesome stuff. The rupturing of Jeremiah’s mech is a treat for the eyes, especially as that scene was done superbly. I think Jeremiah is still alive though, but the after-effects from such a brutal attack probably left him even more twisted. He’s obviously made killing Zero and taking back his pride his only purpose to live. Viletta will probably come for revenge, acting outside Britannian orders. In fact, there’s a nice range of characters in Code Geass for a grand free-for-all, though the next episode preview only shows Cornelia fight someone who seems to be Tougou of the resistance. And if Cornelia dies, who will take up her position? Euphemia or another person like Cornelia?

I’m really liking the idea of Tougou, Karen, Suzaku and Cornelia going at each other. If Cornelia dies, this can still happen with her replacement. And before Viletta can come to stir thing up, she’s probably going to go undercover for a while and track Lelouch down to his school. The relationships between all the characters are setting up for some complicated intertwined war, I’m sure of it. Euphemia might actually get acquainted with some more Ashford students, perhaps Millay or Nina. I wonder what Nina will think if she discovers Euphemia’s closeness with Suzaku. More importantly, what would Lelouch think? And if C.C. enters the fray as well? Ah, I think I should stop imagining; it’s better to just enjoy the show than anticipate too much and perhaps read into the clues wrongly. Speaking of C.C. though, she does give a bit of insight into her past though. Apparently, she has forgotten her name, which is why she is called C.C. Well, she implies this at least. Not to mention she looked really cute during those scenes in the wind. :-P

Plot Outline:

- As C.C. is taking a dive in the pool, Lelouch is going through new applicants to join his Order
- Elsewhere, Jeremiah and Viletta ask Diethard to investigate Ashford
- At the Order’s HQ, some new Knightmare Frames have arrived from Kyoto
- Zero gives Karen the Guren Nishiki to pilot, as she is the best pilot of the Order
- After receiving a request from a Britannian, Lelouch decides to go ‘hiking’
- Nanaly wakes up in her room and mentions to the maid that Lelouch has gone on a trip for a few days
- Lelouch manages to clear the way into the territory of the Japanese Liberation Front
- The Order set up traps in the ground and standby for Cornelia’s attack on the Liberation
- Euphemia has come along with Cornelia because she wants to see a real battle up close

- Back at Ashford, Nina thinks about meeting Euphemia to thank her, though Millay tells her it is impossible as they are only commoners
- Cornelia begins her attack and starts crushing the Liberation
- The leader of the Liberation mentions that the tides would turn if Tougou were to make it to the battle on time
- When Cornelia starts moving up the mountain, Zero begins his attack
- Karen, using the traps set from before, sends a shockwave into the ground the start a landslide, wiping out the majority of enemy troops at the base of the mountain
- The Order then arrives at the base and engages with the Britannian forces
- Jeremiah spots Zero and rushes to attack him, but he is stopped and easily destroyed by Karen
- Once again, Lelouch smirks and indicating that the next one to fall will be Cornelia

You know, Viletta’s plans might not be a big deal after all since that Diethart guy (he can work as the spy or something) knows about it and we know he’s joining the Black Knights. But…it’s still too early for that so I kept it back on my post.

Okay, never mind. Then again, there’s the chance that Nina might screw up everything again and you’ll hate her even more :P

Ah the hell, let’s just see Toudou fight now. And I will say the powers are well balance as of now. Zero now has Toudou and Kallen to counter Cornelia or Suzaku (that whining little faggot.) *kills Suzaku*

    Poor Jeremiah… :P

Eva 02..i mean, Crimson Lotus Mk II better own the shit out of the Lancelot’s ass or this brand new addition to the order of the black knights wil be nothing but useless. Cornelia better die too, she’s annoying the hell outta me. Hurray for Tougou! He seems cool. I bet theres gonna be a tougou vs lancelot in the future too. Oh and yikes for the new geass guy, i hope its suzaku, and I hope he gets into deep shit with it. He’s so stupid it’s fun watching him trying to solve things with righteousness!

aurabolt: ah i forgot about diethard…he’ll stir up some trouble definitely. I wanna see lelouch in a touch situation and see how he reacts

acegunner: yes, balanced fights are always good, so there will be no one winning by miracles or luck

boro ZZZ: my thoughts exactly lol :-D

[...] This episode displays why Geass is such an entertaining series. This episode marks when Kallen gets her Guren Nishiki. It’s such an awesome Knightmare that is definitely reminiscent of Evangelion Unit 02 (Danny had similar views as well as a fellow Evangelion fan). Its special technique is simply badass. I was amazed at how the technique caused such a massive landslide and basically reduced Jeremiah’s Knightmare to garbage (poor guy going insane…Orange-kun lol)! Putting that aside, Tongou of the JLF seems to be on his way to the fighting grounds and probably fight Cornelia next episode. I’m concerned about that battle but I hope Cornelia makes it out alive. As for Kallen I would think her opponent would be Suzaku. God, I want to see her kick his ass with her new “PWN”-age right arm. [...]

to be honest i don’t like suzaku and his powerful knightmare frame i think the power of lancelot is a bit exaggerated and what the hell suzaku might have his own geass which makes him more invincible than ever i hope kallen kick his ass or probably make some damage i’m anticipating that lelouch and euphie meets in ashford i think that it really makes the series more interesting.

i hope the order of the black knights won’t capture cornellia i think its still early for that and what about nunully does she have something like mental power someting like that or lelouch just told her that he’s going for a vication.
