CLANNAD: Episode 16

So now I’m sitting in my chair, after watching the latest episode of Clannad, wondering what the hell just happened as nothing really made any sense. Did KyoAni SERIOUSLY discontinue their use of set arcs?? The last two episodes really don’t have a particular person that they focus on, but rather, revolves around the Theatre club as a group. Perhaps this is a turning point for KyoAni and related series! =D On the other hand, aside from building character and suggesting that the Theatre club will continue, the past two episodes don’t really do anything. Even Mei, who I found very interesting in the beginning, amounted to nothing and went home just like that.
I admit the last part was a little off (about Mei). What she DOES do is make Sunohara show his non-devilish side, which I found to be quite nice. In terms of character development, it really does seem like Ryou is the one who likes Tomoya, and not Kyou. After discovering this, I was left completely shattered, and all hopes for a nice and cheesy Kyou x Tomoya arc went quickly down the drain. But I guess Ryou wouldn’t be at all uninteresting—it’s simply her character that makes it seem like she wouldn’t be too entertaining in a romantic situation, similar to Nagisa. On the other hand, Tomoyo appears to be getting a move on in this department as well…

Well, you don’t even get a light ball for going into “Ryou” route because it is considered a bad ending……but I’m going too deep here….

aha, I thought it was really funny when Mei brought out Dougu and ask if Sonohara wants it. Mei’s appearance is really light-up in the beginning of this episode. To bad that she has to leave already. When she said “I’m shock,” it reminded me of Ayu (Kanon). Tomoyo’s love is in the air really make the story even more interesting. I wish she could have more screentime though. But the best of all was Kyou’s blushing. That was so damn cute !!! Kyou FTW all the way.
I didn’t expect much out of the basketball match. I thought it would be better if Tomoya actually made the basket without the shout from Nagisa. I thought that was too cliche. Oh well, any good episode from Kyoani. Some people said that Nagisa’s arc is coming to end within 3-4 episodes and the rest series will be the after story stuff. What do you think, Danny?

Kyou was moe. Infinitely moe. I don’t care what they do later, I’m satisfied for now =D

This episode may seem to be a ‘filler’ episode..
But for me, its one of the best episode yet..
Because Kyou got more screen time in it… ^_^
The more Kyou, the better..
But seeing how Ryou may be too similar to Nagisa, I don’t see a Ryou arc coming. If anything, there might be an arc with both of them, but with Tomoyo and Nagisa’s story left to be told, and with eight episodes left, I don’t see it coming. Maybe like you mentioned, Danny, the remaining arc might be about the theater club as a whole and include parts from each girl’s story (like Tomoyo and the twins). But if KyoAni decides to use the remaining episodes for two arcs, I’m betting on Tomoyo and Nagisa.
this was a enterteining ep.!! I really loved the basketball game!!! RYOU IS LOVE!! i didnt exactly liked her until now! XD!!!! Clannad is awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!

Danny, how can Ryou be antisocial? She’s the class rep as far as we know, just shy around Tomoya. And it looks like I’m outnumbered here; everyone’s a Kyou fan while I’m rooting for Tomoyo and Nagisa.

Nagisa is such a BO-ring personality. I don’t dislike her at all but comparing her to Kyou she’s so lame ._.

I’m very curious about her confession for Tomoya uhahaha hope there is one…
Shin: i guess thats not a very good word, but in comparison to real life examples that i know, the majority just dont act like Ryou. she simply speaks too formally, or little at all, and her mannerisms are just…’off’. the way she blushes and becomes embarrassed so easily also makes her quite weird (but then the blushing, we can blame that on the stereotype of anime girls…). and i guess the same applies to nagisa.
Tommykn: ryou’s like a clone of nagisa that doesnt show up as often…
So, I guess I wasn’t the only one who liked Kyou. I sort of don’t get why people are hating on Nagisa though. It isn’t as though she’s done anything worthy of being hated. I’ll agree that she really isn’t all that interesting to watch at the moment though. Hopefully, her arc will be a real tear jerker; that’ll be ideal. As much as I’d like it to be either a Tomoyo or Kyou ending, it’ll probably be a Nagisa ending, which I don’t have too much of a problem with as I like her back story anyways. Also, I doubt they’ll conclude Nagisa’s arc in 3 or 4 eps considering we haven’t even had Tomoyo, or Kyou’s arc. I’ll be damned if they shaft either of them considering how much entertainment they generate for me as characters.

Er what do you mean nothing made sense? Aside from being very entertaining this ep had tons of character development, also it’s an important event in the game for Nagisa’s route. I’ve never really liked the set arcs thing anyway, it seemed too meh to go through one girl then move on to the next one, so this is a set in the right direction, although more Kyou and Tomoyo would be nice. I guess with Kanon it’s harder to intergrate the storys as opposed to Clannad.
Hm don’t be too dissapoint about Kyou and Ryou yet, there’s a reason why she’s on the op and Ryou isn’t. There’s no exlusive Ryou arc either heh.
I also don’t understand why people don’t like Nagisa. She’s fun to watch and Tomoya has great chemistry with her. The pairings I like most are Tomoya x Nagisa, and Tomoyo x Tomoya (TM After WTF!). I played a bit of the game and Tomoyo is love

All those in favor of a Kyou X Tomoya moment are people with inclination towards tsunderes. That is all.
