CLANNAD: Episode 15

Rating: 8.5/10

Impressions:

Literally, the LOVE has come back to Clannad. After watching Kotomi’s arc, which I didn’t really like, this serves as a wonderful breather, and the random new direction it’s taking is definitely something I want to see. Sunohara’s sister makes for an interesting development, and as I said in the first sentence, everyone’s starting to get involved with these love problems and misunderstandings. I really like how it seems to be spreading as indicated by the preview, especially as how Kyou definitely wants Tomoya after he says he’s not dating anyone at the moment. Perhaps this will turn into Kyou’s arc…

In any case, the next episode title is ‘3 on 3′—perhaps this refers to the basketball match that Sunohara is so eagerly planning. But then again, I can’t imagine how shattered he must be after that hilarious confrontation between him, Nagisa and Tomoya. But aside from the funnies, we get a little deeper in Tomoya’s past, as well as Sunohara, so the episode isn’t all just laughs and gags. The scene in the beginning with child-Nagisa, or a Nagisa lookalike, and the robot, remains quite mysterious, and I really don’t have the energy to try and come up with any theories at the moment, but all in all, I have to say this is an excellently executed episode.

I liked Kotomi’s arc, but I really missed Tomoya’s hilarious jokes.

It looks like Kyoani’s combining all four arcs together - Tomoyo, Fujibayashi sisters, Nagisa, and Sunohara siblings. Given how the first two storylines are, I’m actually glad they’re doing this.

    There are 9 episodes left..
And 3 more arcs to go..
    Definitely not enough..

I hope KyoAni can come with something to solve this..

Nightseer: I’ve tested the spoiler tags and realised that they indeed didn’t work for visitors. But this was due to a recent upgrade in wordpress, but I managed to fix it now so that the spoiler tags DO work now.

solgae: ooooh, if they do that, i will be exceptionally delighted

Setskyie: i havent even been keeping track of the episode count…hmm yes this does seem to be a problem, but perhaps solgae is right when he says they are merging all the arcs into one.

I’m glad that you like this episode, Danny because I personally love every single episode of Clannad. Can’t wait for more. BTW, I assume that you like Fuko’arc more than Kotomi’s arc?

Huh…I can’t really tell whose arc belong to in this episode. I can understand that Clannad has so many support & side characters and they somehow have to put some of their screentime sooner or later. By introducing Mei, we probably will see more of Sonohara’s character development. Even though, it doesn’t seem too exciting, but what can we do because after all the theme of this seires is “Family.”

The new school uniform remind me of Tomoyo after life game. May be they can have some sort of tiny cliffhanger in the end of Clannad and then they can continue to make Tomoyo ~it’s wonderful life~ as an OVA or something along that line. I thought that will be cool.

Finally, you said that you don’t like Kanon ending. How come? As I remembered you gave ep. 24 score as 9.9/10 (which equal to 9.5) and overall series was 9.8/10 (which is 9/10). Based on that, I thought you really like the ending.

kenshin514: i thought the episode itself was done really well. i gave the score on an objective basis, taking into account how eveyrhting wrapped up and the quality. but personally, as im sure i mentioned in the post, i didnt like how everything came out perfectly because of miracles. it just seemed too cheap for me.

I don’t know why, but I have the feeling KyoAni will try to fuse two arcs at the same time. In the preview, looks like Kyou, Ryou and Tomoyo are all interested in Tomoya is dating anyone, even though it seems a bit obvious that Tomoya and Nagisa are meant to be together.

    Episode 16 should be good.

Hm there seems to be more romance/development in Clannad than in Kanon, I mean Yuuichi didn’t seem like he had romantic feelings for anyone untill that one episode and BAM he’s all blushing with Ayu. It’s one of the few things I didn’t like so much about Kanon heh.

Still what was so bad about Kotomi? I personally like her arc more than Fuko’s. Kotomi’s character intrested me alot more. Fuko was really fun and all but it was starting to get overloaded on dozo have a starfish, and the ending was preditable (atleast for me). Kotomi’s story had alot more involvment from the other characters and it was really nice to see her become friends with Nagisa, Kyou, and Ryou.

From what I know about the game it seems like Kyou Show Spoiler ▼

However I heard from some people who played the game that Kyou’s arc was the “weakest” or something. Oh well it doesn’t make me like her any less as a character. Also in the game it seems like Tomoya confessed to Nagisa in that crying sence where he hugged her from behined (changed to shoulder holding) they took it out because of all the unfinished arcs I bet.

Shin: hehe….im one of the few people who think that tomoya and nagisa are so not meant for each other…their personalities don’t match at all =X

FlameStrike: two things: kotomi’s too weird, and her story is a bit generic, and thus when it all comes together, i can’t help but feel its a little corny. also Show Spoiler ▼
