Tomoya and Yuuichi aren't that similar, although they both have the help girls they find part the execution is diffrent. I agree with you one the drama though, it was a bit generic and overused, I was going on OMG KOTOMI MOEEE to carry me through this arc but it's starting to lose effect. (3 weeks is a looonngg time) Well, I have faith in KyoAni and so far it's still my favorite show this season. I haven't been bothered by the pace though. But, unfortunately, it came out later and so it seems a rehash of the same topics. In Kanon, Yuiichi's amnesia was used damn too many times (Ayu, Mai, Makoto) and they never explained why he should have forgotten them all. In comparison, Tomoya having forgotten a childhood friend who he had known for a few days seems much more believable. I think that CLANNAD is Kanon done right. The game is phenomenal (although it's so hard to play with just AGTH and Atlas >.>) As for Planetarian, I haven't looked into it yet, so that can go any way for all I care...
