CLANNAD: Episode 12

Impressions:
Regardless of what had happened to Kotomi in the past, I still can’t come to like her. She’s simply far too abnormal. Anyway though, this episode proves to be quite interesting with her sudden breakdown, the slight revelation of her past, and various symbolic details that are scattered throughout the episode. What surprised me most was the talk about a separate world, which Kotomi’s parents had supposedly discovered. It gives you that sci-fi feeling, doesn’t it? It could well be false, though such a supernatural phenomenon wouldn’t be uncommon in a Key game. It might help to explain those ‘other world’ sequences of the girl and robot as well…
Fuko’s appearance warrants a mention, though I was half expecting it, due to the lack of closure of her arc. Her appearance certainly is quite sudden, which makes things all the more amusing (especially her mahou shoujo sequence, or whatever THAT is anyway). It seems like she’ll be rejoining the group sooner or later, as she explains that Tomoya and co. don’t need to remember her ‘just yet’. I’m interested to see if she only comes back as a supporting character, or if there will be more to her arc. If the latter were to be true, it would mean a pretty big break from the usual per-character arcs we’ve been getting.

I feel sorry for Kotomi. As I felt sorry for Squall, being unable to trust anyone around you isn´t good.
And if my thinking is correct, then Kotomi has a pretty good reason for being the way she is, if she overcomes that hurdle she´ll be “normal”.
Yes, I do like Kotomi since she´s innocent, but as said, has some serious problems. Friends can be taken away and that is never a good feeling, espacially with Nagisa telling Kyou in that matter… only made it worse.
In the game, there are some instances when Fuko will randomly appear in other character’s arc, after you gain the title of “Fuko Master” by successfully completing all the pranks on Fuko. I don’t recall seeing her in Kotomi’s arc though.
Well, the whole light-hearted things are over now. The whole violin thing was well worth watching over the previous episodes though. Shame we have to wait 2 weeks for the next one….
From what a hear Fuuko does end up playing a bigger part later, but no spoilers here. However I can’t believe you can’t come to like Kotomi, she is so moe it kills, she even has her own defence force XD. Kotomi’s second only to Kyou to me.
manga: haha, i highly doubt she will change her personality after overcoming whatever happens to her ^^
solgae: wow, that sounds hilarious (the game i mean)
FlameStrike: i don’t really fall for moe blobs…i didn’t for mikuru in SHnY either anyway
