Shakugan no Shana II: Episode 8

Rating: 8.2/10

Impressions:

I’m pretty surprised that we get to see this deep into Margery’s past (when she actually wears decent clothing). I’m expecting the little boy to die in the flashback, which would make sense as it would be the fuel for her saying that Sidekick A and Sidekick B will die (yes…forgot the name of those guys lol). I wonder if this reminiscence will last two episodes, or end midway through, to allow time for Margery to either fully accept or reject the requested training. Hopefully, she accepts. Sidekick A and B will finally prove to be useful, and perhaps this will allow them to become closer to Shana as well (she really needs to open up…and human contact will hopefully fix this).

Shakugan no Shana II: Episode 7

Rating: 7.5/10

Impressions:

Yet another group gathering episode, with a lot of character development, this time, from Ike. Regardless of the lack of plot progression and general stupidity of Ike thinking he can actually make a day-plan of a trip and have it followed (lol), I really LOVE this episode. Why? Because it shows Ike being passive-aggressive in his plight to capture Yoshida’s heart. Yes…this means if Yoshida falls for Ike, Shana can have free reign over Yuuji! Well, if I think objectively though, this episode is pretty mediocre. I had been hoping that, as a sequel, there wouldn’t be a need for lengthy personality-discovering episodes. Hopefully, we’ll see some action and plot progression soon.

Shakugan no Shana II: Episode 6

Rating: 7.8/10

Impressions:

I really like the demeanour Shana has at the end of this episode, when it seems she heeds Yoshida’s words to do her best in understanding Yuuji. However, I also have some repressed desire for Shana to go spastic and completely turn on Hecate II (lol can’t remember her name). If this happens, I guess it wouldn’t be unlikely for Yuuji to reject Shana, only to realise later that Shana had always been right. It’s the classic separation-reunion tactic that storywriters use for their main couples, but one that is heavily cliché. This episode overall is pretty fun, with the ‘gang’ gathering in one spot. Perhaps this is an indication for some future ‘hero taskforce’.

Shakugan no Shana II: Episode 5

Rating: 7.7/10

Impressions:

I’m glad that we got a Wilhelmina-centred episode, as we haven’t seen much of her lately. She’s a pretty awesome character, but IMO, she only really shines in combat. What might change this is a deviation from her constant robotic nature, which might result in some interesting occurrences later on. I can really see her sacrificing herself for Yuuji even, if her character were to change, or at least some extra affection from her. Margery might be getting some extra screen-time next time as well, which the ending seems to suggest. Since Yuuji appears to have fighting potential, it would be interesting to see if Margery’s ‘disciples’ could prove to be useful in the near future.

Shakugan no Shana II: Episode 4

Rating: 7.7/10

Impressions:

So it seems that Shakugan no Shana II is taking a slower paced path, to allow for more character development. We’re really getting in pretty deep in terms of Yuuji’s admirers, and he himself is as thick as ever. I’m having trouble deciding on what I want to see as a result of the Hecate look-alike. Do I want Shana and Yoshida to accept them? Or do I want them to reject her completely and become aggressive? My indecisiveness is probably due to the fact that the fact that this look-alike might actually end up as a potentially ‘good’ character, despite her origins. For now though, I’m still riding on the hope that Shana confesses to Yuuji.

Shakugan no Shana II: Episode 3

Rating: 8/10

Impressions:

So apparently, Hecate really IS human. But there’s no doubt she’s part of a ploy by those with the real Hecate. Nevertheless, it looks like Yuuji is probably going to take quite a liking to her, and if it comes to a situation where she’s forced against him, we’ll probably end up enjoying some emotional angst in this series. Not to mention, Yoshida and Shana are probably going to get jealous. Yes, things are certainly becoming more interesting, and hopefully, this will ultimately bring Shana and Yuuji together (Shana x Yuuji FTW!) Ok, and about my blogging, I’m hoping to catch up mostly within this next week. I hope…=(

Shakugan no Shana II: Episode 2

Rating: 8/10

Impressions:

While the villain of the first two episodes ends up being another small-fry, she seems to give Yoshida a chance in the spotlight. This makes me wonder whether she will become important or powerful later on. Before that though, it seems that Yuuji might actually get tgo fight on par with Shana in the future. That would be pretty cool, but personally I just want to see Shana get a massive boost in her skill level. Aside from the action-aspect of the show, the development of the characters and their relationships with each other are coming along nicely. Hopefully, Shana will properly confess to Yuuji sooner or later.
