Nominees in for ~Most rewatchable show~ Vote Now!!
Mhmm, yup, you know what to do–VOTE!! The poll is in the sidebar to the right. Unsurprisingly, Lucky Star won out in the nominations with 7 picks, but 7 isn’t all that much (in 2006, Suzumiya Haruhi got 21 out of 30-something xD). I guess the comedic and episodic nature gives Lucky Star the edge here. Next up came Darker than BLACK, with 4 nominations, and Code Geass third with 3. I’d choose either ef or Minami-ke though—ef for its powerfulness in storytelling and emotion-up-welling, and Minami-ke for it’s general feel good aura, despite not being as funny as I would have hoped. The original post is here.

5 commentsNominees in for ~Most ‘The manga is soo much better’ show~ Vote Now!!
The second poll is up—Most ‘The manga is soo much better’ show—please vote now in the poll to the right. In terms of nominees, Claymore came an easy first with 7 nominations, followed by Negima!? And Bokurano, each with two. The rest only received one nomination each…hmm, doesn’t seem like many of us read manga, does it? Regardless though, the poll results may turn out to be drastically different to this initial analysis. I personally think Death Note’s anime adaptation screwed up big time in the second half of the series, while Claymore is sure to have a sequel.
You can still nominate for the rest of the awards:
3. Most rewatchable show -
4. Most unexpectedly good show -
5. Most ‘I wanna cosplay this’ show -
6. Most ‘Started well but turned out shit’ show -
7. Most ‘I wanna be in this anime’ show -
8. Most ‘I want a remake’ show -
9. Show with best character design style -
10. Show with best character personalities -

7 commentsNominees in for ~Most ‘I want a sequel’ show~ Vote Now!!
Nominees are in for the first not-so-typical-Anime-Award! The question: which anime do you want to see a sequel of most? (regardless of whether it’s been confirmed or not, as long as it hasn’t aired). So, PLEASE VOTE FOR THE “Most ‘I want a sequel’ show” AWARD IN THE POLL TO THE RIGHT. Oh and some extra information: from all the nominations, Darker than Black received the most nominations (probably due to its rather abrupt ending), while Code Geass came in 2nd, ef and Lucky Star tied third, and Baccano came fourth. I wonder how this will be reflected in the poll…
By the way, you can still nominate for the rest of the awards:
2. Most ‘The manga is soo much better’ show -
3. Most rewatchable show -
4. Most unexpectedly good show -
5. Most ‘I wanna cosplay this’ show -
6. Most ‘Started well but turned out shit’ show -
7. Most ‘I wanna be in this anime’ show -
8. Most ‘I want a remake’ show -
9. Show with best character design style -
10. Show with best character personalities -

12 comments2007 not-so-typical-Anime-Awards ~ Nominate Now!
Remember this? Well, it’s that time of the year again. Basically, around December last year, I thought of some poll questions for these anime awards, which are listed below. What you, the reader, have to do now is nominate shows for the particular categories. As with last year, the same rules apply:
#1 The anime must have finished in 2007. Therefore, ongoing shows like Naruto, or shows that extend past December, like Clannad, cannot be nominated. Also, this means that the shows that started in autumn 2006 that weren’t included in the last competition, can be included this time. These would include Code Geass, Death Note, Kanon etc. Likewise, the shows that end in the next season, like Clannad, will be included in the 2008 awards (if I’m still alive then).
#2 The anime must not be an OAV/OVA, ONA or movie, or anything that is not broadcast on TV. Which means, no you can’t nominated Rebuild of Evangelion of the Naruto movie etc.
By the way, you are allowed to nominate more than one show per category, but please keep them to a minimum.
Ok, now that that’s out of the way, here are the categories:
1. Most ‘I want a sequel’ show -
2. Most ‘The manga is soo much better’ show -
3. Most rewatchable show -
4. Most unexpectedly good show -
5. Most ‘I wanna cosplay this’ show -
6. Most ‘Started well but turned out shit’ show -
7. Most ‘I wanna be in this anime’ show -
8. Most ‘I want a remake’ show -
9. Show with best character design style -
10. Show with best character personalities -
Category 1 asks for the show you would like to see a sequel of. You cannot nominate an anime with a sequel that has or is already airing, but you can nominate an anime that has a sequel planned in the future.
Category 2 asks for the show that has a manga version, of which you think the manga is far superior to the anime (no, you can’t nominate Bleach or Naruto as they do not finish in 2007. I’m not accepting Naruto even though the first season ended in 2007, simply because the anime never stopped. It continued on to Shippuden as if it were a single season).
Category 3 asks for the show that you would like to rewatch most.
Category 4 asks for the show that you thought was crap at the beginning, or before it aired, when it in fact turned out to be extremely good.
Category 5 asks for the show that you would like to cosplay most. If you don’t cosplay or would never cosplay, simply nominate the show with the best outfits.
Category 6 asks for the show which you think started well but ended badly. It’s kind of self-explanatory.
Category 7 asks for the show in which you would most like to be in as a character, or just as another person in that anime world.
Category 8 asks for the show which you would like to see a remake most. A remake is simply a production which has the same characters and storyline as an existing show, but is created usually due to a low standard of the original.
Category 9 asks for the show which you think has the best character designs. This refers to the visual aspect of an anime and its characters.
Category 10 asks for the show which you think has characters with the best personalities. A good personality can be anyting—maybe you loved Light’s evilness and so nominate Death Note for it.

48 commentsNew Poll: Favourite new anime so far?

Ok, so first thing’s first. I’m back (damn Australia sucks…), but I won’t be blogging any of the new shows until tomorrow, since I got my friend to keep track of the major series, who I won’t be seeing until tomorrow (hopefully he HAS actually been following the new shows). I’ll blog Bleach 144 today though (and maybe others), in time for 145 tomorrow (hopefully). However, I can’t say how much I will blog over the next two weeks, since my exams technically start next week and I need to catch up on stuff etc. Anyway, this poll is obviously about the new season. I have actually made a start on it on youtube. (And crap, my average daily visits has dropped by almost 1000) x_x

29 commentsNew Poll: What are you looking forward to in fall 2007?

The polls plugin only allows for 20 answers, but there are almost 40 new shows premiering next month, so I really have no idea in choosing what to put as an option. And I usually choose badly. So I’m trying something new. The poll is in the sidebar on the right—just pick the best answer. I’ll probably do a ‘What’s your favourite anime so far’ poll a few weeks in, once the good ones start to shine. If anyone’s wondering, I’ll be looking forward to Shakugan no Shana II, Minami-ke, Kodomo no Jikan, Genshiken 2, Da Capo II, ef – a tale of memories, Gundam 00, CLANNAD and Bamboo Blade.

9 commentsNew Poll: In Bleach, will there be any filler arcs from now until the end of Hueco Mundo?

It seems like everyone loves Zero no Tsukaima, as its second season nabbed 20% of the 1.2k votes. Higurashi’s sequel came second, which was unfortunate as I was hoping for a larger fan base. Third was a surprise, being Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei, a series which I have only seen three episodes of. Seeing the results, I have to say I’m a lot more interested in that show now than previously. Anyway, the next poll asks if you think there will be any more filler arcs from now until the end of the Hueco Mundo arc, which should be beginning soon. It’s a simple yes or no question. I personally think ‘no’ as from here on out, there’s no stopping or turning back. xD

11 commentsNew Poll: Favourite summer 2007 anime so far?

The Spring 2007 had a clear winner—Claymore, which is understandable. It is one of my favourites as well. Anyway, with that done, I wonder how the Summer season is doing. In my personal opinion, I quite like this season, with shows like Higurashi, Sky Girls and Zero no Tsukaima. My top three for the season go to those three as well, in that order. So yes, like last time, please vote and please mention any show that’s not listed here if you feel that it deserves to be. In a previous poll asking which show is being looked forward to most, Zero no Tsukaima came in first with 20% of the votes, followed by Higurashi with 18%.
