Happiness! Episode 5

Impresisons:

Hmm, Happiness…ka? Well, the last episode was pretty stupid, but this episode sort of redeemed itself with some real plot movement. Two new characters were introduced, one of them being Saya Ichigo, who I have mentioned numerous times. Why? Because her seiyuu is the same as Pumpkin Scissor’s Alice, D.Gray-man’s Linali, Asatte no Houkou’s Shouko and various others which I can’t be bothered naming. I don’t know how important she’ll be but it is likely that there’ll be more episodes about her and Hachisuke. I thought Saya looked younger than the others but oh well, guess not. The main thing though, is the relationship between Haruhi and Yuuma, which hasn’t progressed AT ALL. That’s very bad. I hope the anime doesn’t plan to squeeze all the development between the two in the very end. It should be spread out more. I have no idea what the next episode is about, but I hope we get something to do with Haruhi x Yuuma bonding. Or any couple bonding, I don’t care.

Happiness! Episode 4

Impressions:

I’m completely lost. I need to wait for some people to blog this episode before I write anything as I don’t have an inkling of what happened. Something about Tama-chan, the blog, and how to make him from clay. Then there was the painful separation, happy reunion and even more painful permanent parting of Tama-chan and the black haired girl, but it doesn’t matter since she can just make another Tama! Usually, I can get the gist of the episode after watching it raw, but this time I really don’t get anything (dialogue-wise). I can say that I am pretty surprised Tama-chan is important enough to get a whole episode to himself? Running out of ideas? I hope not, as I want to see more development of the plot and characters. In every show like this, there has to be some good episodes wasted on irrelevant events. Sure, if you watch the show just to see the characters, that’s great! But a lot of the time, the interaction that goes on doesn’t develop the character’s personalities at all, which is really quite a waste of a perfectly good half an hour time slot. The not so good quality isn’t helping either. Although I must say, Anri was pretty cute this episode, dunno why though.

Happiness! Episode 3

Impressions:

Okay, I won’t complain about the quality because it doesn’t matter that much, and at least it’s about 100x better than this certain other show (hint: the entry just before this one!). In fact, I see a lot of things the show can improve on, but frankly I don’t give a damn about any of that because I am perfectly fine with the way things are now. I find it quite enjoyable and a fun show to watch when you don’t want to think about much (similar to Zero no Tsukaima). The characters are a bit bland (especially Haruhi), but people like Anri, Jun and Hachisuke lighten everything up. I’m sure a lot of you have fallen in love with Jun even though you know he’s a guy; and a lot of you probably adore Anri too, even though she’s one of those types that never get the guy (as pointed out by some guy on Hinano’s blog). As for Hachisuke, well, he’s just a fun guy and no one would think any more than that. Anyway, looking forward to the next episode (like always).

Happiness! Episode 2

Impressions:

As a side note, ‘Happiness!’ has finally been subbed, but it’s over a week behind so I’ll still be blogging this show according to the raws. I understand enough anyway and there are other blogs I can rely on for plot clarification. Anyway, I’m liking this show more now even though the animation isn’t that great. Plot-wise it’s heading in a fun direction and it’s not just another silly harem/ecchi type romance series, but a more serious love story with a dash of mystery. Well, romance series involving childhood friends usually have some mystery too, but Happiness!’s mystery aspect is slightly greater and more important. Yuuma’s past and his relation with magic is currently unknown, though a few hints have been thrown out there now. I think the boy who saved Haruhi when she was small IS Yuuma, but something happened to make him dislike magic and stop using magic. Or, he somehow lost his powers, suppressed them or just forgot about them, and now having met Haruhi, they’re starting to return.

Happiness! Episode 1

Episodes: 13
Genres: Love-Romance, Mahou Shoujo
Studio: Artland
OP: “Happiness!” by Ayumi Murata
ED: “Magical Generation” by Yui Sakakibara
Official Site: http://www.happiness-anime.com/

Impressions:

There’s magic? That was the first thought I had when I watched the first episode of ‘Happiness!’, as I didn’t really pay that much attention to exactly what each new fall show is about. At first, I was like, ‘Aww, wtf? They’ve just totally ruined it now…’ And oh boy was I wrong. I began thinking that when the magic I saw was just plain lame (no special sound effects or anything), but then I realised the focus of the story is not magic but the romance between Kamisaki Haruhi and Kohinata Yuuma. There we go – now it all makes sense! Another thing to note is that Jun is a BOY dressed up as a girl with a girly voice. Now I think it’s a really good first episode as the pace was pretty quick – character introductions, some magic display, magic academy burning down then the magic students transferring to the non-magic school…right? Sorry, I watched the raw so I’m not sure of the exact events. Anyway, if I have to watch the raw I will as this is too good to wait.
