Wow, that was the most WTF ending I have ever seen, and no not the Evangelion-type WTF ending (though I didn’t go WTF at Eva’s ending). Ok, enough WTFing for now. Yoakena’s ending is just horrible. After watching the 11th episode, I concluded the ending would actually be above average, as the quality was very high for Yoakena standards anyway. However, everything went wrong when suddenly Tatsuya’s dad comes in on a ship the size of the earth and beams some healing ray onto his son and REVIVES him from the dead. Good grief, I’m so glad I don’t have to watch any more of this crap now. Oh and to make things worse, Tatsuya and Feena get married in an arena full of ALIENS! Seriously, that is a big WTF. I’m not going to go into the details of what happened or any good points of this show, since it’s not like anyone cares or wants to know! Well at least I can add another series onto my completed list, which is by the way, the only reason I actually completed this series.

This post was meant to have been finished six hours ago, but I got severely distracted by the guys on AnimeBlogger’s IRC, so blame them! >_< Anyway, this episode is actually worth sitting through! It’s definitely interesting enough, and the quality is acceptable. I just wish Feena was more like her mother. Cephelia (or whatever her mother is called) has the natural feminine nature that totally pwns Feena’s shit personality. At least she doesn’t appear as much now, since she’s been detained. Oh and, I’m guessing the random guy who convinced the current king of the moon to make a move of Cephelia is actually Tatsuya’s dad, am I right? I guess it all ties together now. Still, Yoake is not an anime I’d recommend to people. The quality is just too low most of the time. I’m still surprised there are about 5 blogs doing this show still. This episode feels more like the second last ep, though there are still two more to go. I guess there’s still Feena’s fiancée to take care of, as well as Fiacca. Wreathlit is my favourite character so it’s a shame she doesn’t get involved more. Anyway though, this series should have engaged in the moon-earth affair sooner. Perhaps that would have made it more interesting to begin with. Actually no, even if it was interesting, the quality would still be an all-time low.

AWWW there’s STILL 3 whole episodes to go! Three more weeks or nothing but horror and devastation! Arrghh god I hate this show. Why? Because the animation stinks so much that Feena looks like a man at times. There is also not one properly drawn face, except maybe Wreathlit. I have to admit, this episode is actually the most interesting of the entire series, though I scrolled through everything apart from Karen’s meeting with the king and the encounter with Filanca. I actually think they did an above average job with Filanca, though that’s probably what the producers blew their budget on. But even if something like Kanon looked like Yoake, no one would watch it either. Well, I wouldn’t at least. Anyway, with another 3 episodes to go, as I have mentioned earlier, the confrontations with Wreathlit and Feena’s fiancée should be able to fill all the remaining time, with maybe some time at the end for more silliness including Tatsuya and Feena. I think this is the first anime that’s really killing me. But I can’t stop now…BTW the funniest part this episode is when Your-Mom mentions Bulbasaur during the leaf attack LMAO.

I don’t know why I still blog this show. And I also don’t know why there are so many other bloggers doing this show as well. I really feel have no interest in the show, and it is just barely good enough to make it not a chore to watch. This episode is better, but not by much, than most of the preceding ones. I don’t know about you guys but I hate it when a romantic interest becomes public and everyone starts supporting it. I also hate it when both sides admit their feelings so easily and confidently, especially to people other than each other. I really feel like indulging myself in a shoujo romance like Aishiteruze Baby or something (the manga of course) since Yoake is just too childish and silly for me. The sense of relief and happiness that emanates from this episode is quite refreshing, since everyone is in high spirits throughout the entire episode. I wish the series would just end on this episode, though there’s still some unfinished business to complete. Tatsuya’s and Feena’s relationship has by no means been resolved. They still have Feena’s fiancée and Wreathlit to overcome, though I somehow think they are related since they both have similar hair. I’m still wondering who the voice is that’s been communicating with Wreathlit and whether it’s a technological phenomenon or a fantastical one.

Game CG is good. Unfortunately some anime adaptations aren’t. The quality remained quite high for this particular show, until approximately the 11th minute mark, when it suddenly plummeted, resulting in several disgusting scenes such as the one I mentioned just before. Actually no, all the scenes after that are horrible. I have no idea what happened. I really want to study the process of Japanese animation, since I still don’t see how a low budget has to mean shit drawings. I mean, if I tried to draw Yoake on my first try, it WILL be better than some of the scenes this episode. So unless all the guys on the animation team are really shit drawers, then it shouldn’t take that much more money to draw relatively well. Oh well, what can you do? Man I am so drained today. The heatwave doesn’t look like it’ll be passing any time soon, and the humidity is just unbearable…Anyway, aside from the animation quality, the plot movement is much better this episode. Things become a lot more serious, especially with Tatsuya’s confession at the end. However, the bad animation made the serious final section of the episode a complete joke (ok, I’m being a bit harsh, but it did ruin the gravity of the situation somewhat).

Another thing is the obvious cliché moments, which I absolutely despise. I hate it how people actually have to get TOLD that they like someone, namely Tatsuya, since unless you’re an 8-year-old experiencing your first crush, I highly doubt that any sane person would not realise they are in love with someone when they obviously know the effects of the affection. Tatsuya clearly pointed out all his ’symptons’ and still couldn’t figure it out. What’s worse is that because of that, the resulting had to be shown. The final confession scenario was quite overly used as well. I don’t have to explain why. The final obvious cliché addition to the show is the EVIL-FIANCEE-DUDE! This guy is instantly hateable, and for once he’s already shown as the bad guy. With this whole climatic atmosphere building up, it feels as if Yoake Crescent Love is already up to episode ten or eleven. From the preview, it looks like Tatsuya is going to fight the Feena’s fiancée to decide who will remain with the princess…or something like that. I wonder if the fiancée will be taken care of before the end of the show, and have some other obstacle prepared for the finale. Maybe there will be some sort of confrontation with Wreathlit!

This episode was much better. There was nothing stupid, so that gives it a few extra points. But those points are immediately deducted by the extremely overused ‘guy meets girl’ scenarios. Feena’s and Tatsuya’s hands touching when reaching for the rubber was probably the worst. The test was ok, but I still don’t like the simplicity of these things. I think I might calm myself down and read a proper shoujo romance manga or something. Overall though, the mood of the show was a bit gloomier, since it seems like Feena isn’t allowed to let anything happen between her and Tatsuya. The pace seems to be a bit too fast, since there is little to no plot, which makes it feel like it’s near the end already. I have to endure this for another how many episodes? At least, since this episode was better, I can hope for some improvement later on. I also think that so little effort is put into the chibi scenes that it’s really ruining the show. The exact same frames were used as the first episode even. I guess the producers are trying to save money wherever they can. That also pissed me off since because of that, there was once again nobody on the streets outside when Tatsuya and Feena were out. Not even some stills, or some merged as part of the background. But the good thing is, Wreathlit got a big portion of airtime this episode! And we finally get to find out what she’s doing here on earth. To prevent the destruction of the moon and the earth that will be caused by Feena’s and Tatsuya’s ever-advancing relationship. Ah well…one paragraph only, and I think it’ll stay that way until the show is almost over.

Yoake fails! I’m still not absolutely sure why, so it’d be great if something who thinks the same as me to just lay down everything that’s wrong with it. Well, here’s my analysis of why it’s living up to my expectations. Firstly, I don’t like any of the characters as much as I should, and that includes Feena. I was completely devastated when I heard her voice for the first time: it was too low. Yeah, I know that reason’s a bit petty, but there’s more. Her personality I don’t like either. This is one of the things I’m having trouble deciphering, as the best I can come up with is she is too royalty-like. Apart from her, Tatsuya is pretty annoying too. He is far too ‘good’. I’d much rather watch a typical loser of a main character than Tatsuya. He speaks everything as if he were a prophet. As for the other characters, they’re all fine but they don’t get nearly enough character development or screen time. Everything right now is interaction between Feena and Tatsuya, and that’s making me sick. I want to see some other characters in action other than to just provide the occasionally joke. At least that blonde girl made another appearance, and she remains a mystery. I want to see more of her as I am fed up with the current cast as it is.

The other main problem specific to this episode is the flashback Tatsuya had of his first encounter with Feena. That moment was completely spoilt by their smiles and laughs. Yes, it was ruined by happiness. The moment was meant to be extremely sad! SAD! And you can’t possibly fall in love at first sight with a stranger after your mum just died! There was the perfect chance to throw a bit – just a bit – of drama into the show. But no, it was ruined, and the worse thing is, I didn’t think the producers could ruin a moment like that. It’s much worse than when you’re not expecting something good to happen. I thought the rest of the episode was okay: your typical beach episode, as everyone calls it. But that lost opportunity really crushed me. I practically lost all hope in the series. I don’t think it’s possible for the show to lift my disappointment, since I already dislike the characters. The story is fine. Any story is fine. Even the quality was fine this time. But the characters, which define the story, are all messed up. The mood is too. I hate how it switches from normal to humour like that, and the jokes aren’t even funny. Then they try to put something serious into the mood, but that fails too! Not enough time’s being spent at school either, but I don’t really care since all the characters at Tatsuya’s school will probably end up being extremely shallow anyway…

This anime is now the most idiotic piece of crap I’ve ever seen past episode two. The ONLY reason why I am still watching it is because apparently most of this episode was a filler, so the main storyline should be 100 times better, no? Seriously, I don’t watch Naruto but I am sure a lot of people would say that this filler is worse than the Naruto fillers. There’s ‘funny’, then there’s just plain ’stupid’. If you’re making a filler, at least make it in accordance with the rest of the anime and don’t just throw in completely random events in a random order with random overused chibi scenes and random everything else. Okay, maybe it wasn’t that random, but thinking of it as so eases the fault off the writers who came up with this crap. And I can’t believe the quality actually jumped to higher than episode 2. Why the hell would anyone choose to make a filler look better than a real episode, one that actually matters and has some importance to the storyline?! (Btw, I’m not really pissed right now as it might sound, I’m just trying to get the point across that this show now really, REALLY sucks!!!)

Moving on now, the one thing I saw that seemed to be serious enough was when Tatsuya was about to perform mouth-to-mouth on Feena, but then Wreathlit did something with her fingers and made Feena spout water. Did that really happen or did my eyes deceive me? She doesn’t have any…powers, does she? Hmm…in fact, I think this series would be much better off as a fantasy show, rather than a cheap rip-off of Tsuyokiss (that’s right, if you thought Tsuyokiss was bad [and I don't], it’s nothing compared to Yoake!) The show started off with the potential to turn out as a nice, REALISTIC harem or at least school-life show. I really hope there will be no more fillers and the story will get a move on. I still can’t be sure about this series, even though it’s already a third of the way in. Let’s hope that the producers didn’t blow all their money on this episode and will have to save up for another two or three episodes before making another good one. That would be horrible. I really don’t want to stop blogging because I want to increase the size of my ‘completed’ list than my ‘incomplete’ list.

Before I go into how much the episode sucked, let me just say that my new favourite character is the blonde girl who was flying in the first episode, wearing some old fashioned gown. The main reason is because despite the very, very, VERY HUGE drop in quality from the first episode, she managed to stay cute and not too deformed. Her name is Risu, though the fansub I watched, Your Mom, obviously translated it wrong as they named her Wreath! Yes, they suck at subbing but at least they’re fast (though it isn’t that much of a consolation). Her full name though, is Riisuritto Noeru (from the official website). I’ve never heard of that before, but then again, I have never heard of Feena before either. So far, she’s appeared quite a few times and no one’s recognised her. It seems like she came from the moon, but her role in the story has yet to be revealed. She doesn’t seem evil either, with her childlikeness. She also seems to know Feena, but then again, who doesn’t? She IS the princess of the moon. Now, on to one and a half paragraph’s worth of prolonged ranting and belittling the series.

Now, this really sucks. The producers really did blow all their money on the first episode. Jeez, what a letdown. I cannot believe how shit the quality is of this episode. Even I can draw better than the random blobs which they call ‘characters’. Sometimes I can’t even tell whether the show’s in chibi mode or not because the characters are THAT horrible deformed. And even then, the chibis themselves are drawn badly! They’re the easiest to draw; I can definitely do a better chibi character them the ones in this episode. And by the looks of it, the next episode won’t be that much better than this. The storyline is only average, which means the sever drop in quality has just destroyed this series’ value. Why then, am I still watching and blogging this show? Because I tend to be stubborn until the end, thinking the show might make a turn for the better eventually. I also keep following the show because I don’t like starting something, watching three quarters of the series then stop. No matter how predictable or bad the ending is, I must see it. Of course, there are exceptions, where the it becomes so crap it’s unbearable to watch, or when I cannot get it for whatever reason.

Now I REALLY can’t think of anything to write. Whenever something like this happens – the quality becomes so noticeable there wouldn’t be anyone who didn’t notice that, it makes me lose the plot completely and wipes my mind of any positive or semi-positive thoughts of the show. I’m pretty sure this show has a few good points left, and that is subjective, but I can’t really think right now. Tatsuya’s relationship with Feena didn’t really advance much this episode; in fact, in terms of character and relational development, there was practically none. We got to see a bit more of Mai’s brother, Mai herself and Feena. Hey, speaking of Mai, I finally found something that was good about the episode. “Master Carbon”, the name which Mai has been dubbed for turning everything she tries to cook into black coal. Even the soup, that’s right, liquid soup was turned into a big chunk of blackness. Now that part was funny; the rest, especially the chibi scenes, no longer became funny because Yoake Mae yori Ruriiro na Crescent Love (I remembered the name!) has fallen victim to the over-repetitive-humour-technique disease. Meh, let’s just hope for a better attempt next time.

What’s the point of a summary? Feena and Mai had a cooking competition. Mai got her ass owned. The end. Nothing else happened. Really.

Impressions:

That was crap. Seriously. It seems like too much money was spent on the first episode so the second one really stunk. The quality was so crap. The producers even neglected to put a few extra people on the streets outside. The facial animation was all over the place, very inconsistent and simple as well (lack of shading etc). At least Feena blushed more than the average princess in 20 minutes, but even those were shown by a few scrappy looking red lines. Disappointing…and the show started off well too. With such a good start, I didn’t think the quality would bomb this bad. I can’t think of anything good about the episode…>=( Veryyy bad…if this wasn’t a single season series I would be considering dropping it now. The next episode better be much better than this episode.

Ok now, moving away from the bad comments and onto the actual events in the episode, which are actually pretty good. We see more development between Feena and Tatsuya (yay!) though Tatsuya still seems to be clueless about his past with the princess. Nevertheless, he is definitely falling for Feena. The nose pitching is a pretty clear indication of this, though I still find that habit a bit strange. Another thing, that camera guy who’s name I can’t remember is hilarious! I love it how he appears so suddenly, almost as much as the chibi scenes which were less effective this episode…such a shame. And ‘Master Carbon’ too lol; what an ingenious name! *Sigh* I can definitely see myself enjoying this series 100x more if the goddamn quality was higher. Argh, how could they run out of money this early in the series?!

I wonder why Feena is so strict on Mia. She’s so relaxed with everyone else, even allowing them to call her by her first name without a –sama or anything. She didn’t even do anything when the camera dude showed Tatsuya a hawt picture of Feena changing xD!! I was expecting a dramatic scene where a devil Feena is surrounded by blazing fire with a shadow over her eyes. But I guess that would’ve been too expensive. I wish more characters were introduced this episode (sorry, my paragraphing isn’t that bad, it’s just that I like having them the same size). The other characters should get more screen time and interaction as well. I really like Midori but her appearance was short. Too much time spent on Feena and Tatsuya so their relationship is developing to fast. They should relax a bit on their part and just make them fall in love with each other while they’re on a date on the moon or something lol.

Plot Outline:

- At home, Mai is surprised that Tatsuya is calm about Feena being in the same class as him
- Tatsuya says he gets over it once he panics about them once
- Feena comes into the room in her new school uniform
- Tatsuya calls her cute and makes her blush
- Mia asks if she can accompany Feena to school but is not allowed to
- As Feena, Mai and Tatsuya are walking to school, Feena marvels at the river as there are only artificial rivers on the moon
- At school, Feena is introduced to the class
- No one is willing to talk to her except Midori (and Natuski after some encouragement from Tatsuya)
- Natsuki lets slip that Feena is staying at Tatsuya’s place
- The boys of the class immediately drag Tatsuya outside and start questioning him about all sort of things

- After managing to satisfy the guys, Tatsuya returns to class to find all the girls talking with Feena, happy because the ice had been broken
- During PE, Feena shows off her skills in kendo
- During lunch, Tatsuya is unable to buy lunch due to long lines, but thankfully Mia comes to school with sandwiches
- Feena scolds her for coming but Tatsuya defends her
- The camera guy shows up and gives Tatsuya a pic of Feena changing
- Feena snatches it off Tatsuya while blushing furiously
- The man makes off with on the shoulders of some unknown random
- Tatsuya wants to take Feena out but she is dragged away for political duties
- At night, Tatsuya wonders what he can do for Feena to help her
- When Feena gets back from her duties late at night, Tatsuya greets her with a ‘good night’ as it is the only thing he can do for her currently
- Tatsuya pinches Feena’s nose out of the blue but recoils immediately
- Feena isn’t the least bit annoyed about this
